Also, Walden did two things tonight: 1) earned himself a hell of a raise this offseason with his superb play tonight; and 2) proved that Moses should be starting and giving Walden regular breathers. When Walden is fresh, he is capable of playing at a very high level next to Clay. He might also provide a good option to spy on 49ers QB next week.

Two issues with Walden.. consistency being in the forefront.. one week looks good next week, his other issue takes center stage... Discipline. He is a undisciplined player at times.. most notably on setting the edge.. far to often he gets sucked inside to much and give the edge away.

Guy played a grade A game tonight.. gave up the edge at least once that I seen.. but that is nothing to complain about.
thanks Post received 1 applause.

Love the way the Packers played tonight. Well...For three quarters at least. Loved getting to the quick hitters on offense. Weather it was dump offs to the RB's or the slants to WR's. Loved it all. It got a little ugly after the first drive of the third quarter. But still alive and going to San Francisco. I do wish they could have put this team away in grand fashion though.

I think both issues may be the product of him being winded/tired. He is not, for whatever reason, capable of being a 3 down player for 4 quarters. I do not think it is a coincidence that almost all of the games where Walden has played very well are either in the first half of the season (last year) or when he has been regularly rotated in with another OLB (earlier part of this season with Perry, again tonight with Moses). I do not think it is a coincidence that when Claymaker was out, Walden was under performing relative to the start of the year.

In the first quarter, Walden bit on a bootleg that allowed Webb to scramble for 10 yards. After that, he seemed to settle in and play a very good game. With that said, I think Moses is a more discipline player. He plays containment much better and is tackling technique is solid. The fear, of course, is him dropping back in coverage.

It’s nice to get a playoff win, especially in Lambeau (first one in five years), but I think they’ll need to play better in order to defeat San Francisco. Their second-half effort on offense was not Super Bowl caliber.

I have said this around here someplace.. I think Moses becomes that other edge rusher opposite Matthews in the near future.. needs to develop more than the speed rush... but I think he has the physical tools to do so.

But Nick Perry plays the run much better. Coach Moses up to a pass rush specialist.

I told NSD that Woodson will be a difference in this game. I was right. Woodson was everywhere. He was consistently getting to AD. Sure, he didn't always drag him down, but at the very least, he slowed him down. Hats off to Woodson.

We got handed this game though. We didn't have to do much. Webb sucked. He reminds me of Wrecks Grossman in his level of ineptitude.

Formo, Vikesrule, you guys seriously need a QB. Ponder doesn't cut it and Webb is downright awful.

Mrs. Z and I just got back. I had 2 Guinness, 1 Scotch, 4 shots of bourbon, and probably a few other drinks I don't remember. Heck of a night. Different bar this time and got to sit with REAL Niners fans, which was nice considering I'm used to sitting with poseurs. Had a great time.

This victory is kind of bittersweet. Our O did look good but our D didn't really have to do anything. Webb handed us a lot and we took advantage of it. This wasn't a real game, folks. Niners will be a real test.

It was what it was, a very ugly game.

Sound like you had a good night ZS, I was watching the game at a little playoff party at a friends house.
Problem being, said friend is a major cheesehead.....took some shit last night, but oh well.

With that said, Vikings fans have every reason to be proud this year.
After the last couple of years, to go 10-6 in regular season, beat the 49'ers, the Texans and split with the Bears and Packers and make it to the playoffs.
I'll take that for now

No excuses for the playoff game, it was what it was.

Correct, the Vikes have nothing to hang their heads about. Nothing.

And many are forgetting the Ponder is still in his second year playing on a team that has a weak collection of receivers and Ponder himself was green coming in from Florida State. As and FSU fan, I can tell you he needed more time.. he should have been allowed to develop (like Rodgers) behind a veteran. The Vikings screwed themselves when they picked the veteran to be McNabb. So that threw Ponder into the fire and probably will stunt his growth for a bit. But at times this season he showed that he can be that player they need him to be... will he ever be a top 5 QB in this league? The depends on him putting in the work to do so and not chasing his blonde around.

I have no issue saying Ponder will become a better QB than say Cutler... his mental makeup on the field seems much more complete. And talent wise, I think he has all the physical tools to do so.

The issue for the Vikings is will that happen before AP becomes a shadow of himself... like this year a missed chance to capitalize with the best player in the game this season.

Woodson helped... but that was not the real factor.. that happened right at the LOS with the front seven, sometimes eight, playing the run first and remaining disciplined in their roles of sealing their responsibilities down. We pinched inside and remainder stout on the edges.. AP simply didn't have those cutbacks and lanes to exploit.

A couple time Matthews and Walden got pinched in... but for the most part the interior walled it off and we kept him from getting to the edge. If anyone gets a game ball... it should be BJ, Pick, Wilson, Neal, Matthews, Walden, Moses, Hawk, Jones, Etc. They are the grunts that let Woodson, Burnett, etc to come in and finish some of the plays off.

uffda udfa (1h) : Nope. I like Gus.
beast (2h) : Did you want Anthony Lynn as HC? Cushion Bradley was going to follow Lynn where ever.
uffda udfa (3h) : Gus Bradley is new DC in SD/LA. I would've loved to had him here in Green Bay.
uffda udfa (7h) : It's just fine.
musccy (7h) : 5 questionable Packers, none for Falcons. Not good.
uffda udfa (7h) : Jordy not listed as OUT or DOUBTFUL. Questionable on injury report.
uffda udfa (8h) : This is the 6th straight game we've faced someone for the 2nd time. We learn.
uffda udfa (8h) : Aaron: I like our role. I like our chances. (said he relishes being an underdog)
uffda udfa (8h) : Aaron alludes to fake crowd noise at Georgia Dome for Sunday.
uffda udfa (9h) : So, to recap. Losing streak "just the way it is", winning streak "astronomical feat". #Balanced
uffda udfa (9h) : Ironically, he called the turn around "astronomical" not just the way it is in the NFL. #Don'tMissTheIrony
uffda udfa (9h) : Ted tells Demovsky the Packers weren't underachieving when 4-6. Just the way it is in the NFL????
Zero2Cool (13h) : Only time I recall getting annoyed is when they beat a single topic over and over and over.
Pack93z (13h) : Most yes... Heller seems to get it more so... diversity in his coverage... but seemingly can highlight the pressing issues properly.
Zero2Cool (13h) : I'm kind of in the boat that they all are babblying boonies.
Pack93z (13h) : God bless it... Bill Michaels can be a stubborn SOB at times... love his Packers coverage, still think he is a buffoon at times.
Zero2Cool (14h) : Jordy Nelson Named PFWA Comeback Player of the Year
Zero2Cool (15h) : Carter is predicitng the end is in ATL for Packers.
Porforis (15h) : Or I could just completely miss the part where that was Cris Carter.
Porforis (15h) : Careful there. Don't you want to predict a Packers loss just in case?
Zero2Cool (16h) : @criscarter80 :Every fairy tale comes to an end, and this is where the magic carpet ride stops in the ATL.
Zero2Cool (16h) : McCarthy: "JC Tretter actually had surgery Tuesday. He won't be available this week"
Zero2Cool (17h) : Crosby is fine now. Full Participant in practice Thursday
Porforis (18h) : What I'm more worried about at this point is WR injuries and Crosby being sick. Who'd be the backup if Crosby can't go?
Zero2Cool (18h) : We do have hope. Our secondary has improved. Also, he had to throw 80% to get 1 point up. That won't happen again.
Zero2Cool (18h) : I like to tease sometimes.
uffda udfa (18h) : Only 80%? :). We lost by one given that stat? Wish we had hope of tightening up.
uffda udfa (18h) : Z, u should tell everyone who Quintorris is. Quintorris Lopez Jones, better known as Julio.
Zero2Cool (18h) : Matt Ryan completed 80% of his passes against Packers in October.
uffda udfa (18h) : McGinn goes full on attack mode dismissing the notion of "Packers people". Harsh.
uffda udfa (18h) : McGinn says John Dorsey likely to be next Packers GM.
Zero2Cool (21h) : Boom! Davante Adams says last year's ankle injury "more difficult to deal with'
uffda udfa (20-Jan) : Packers brass potentially leaving? Not worthy of discussing. Pressure Cooker? Never enough talk about them.
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Put Quintorris in a pressure cooker.
uffda udfa (19-Jan) : Back to football: Julio says he's going to play Sunday. Did NOT say he wouldn't be limited in the game.
