IMO, a fitting end for DD's career would be the following:

1. He is active for the Super Bowl this year.
2. He catches one pass, what turns out to be the winning (but not the last) TD in a Packer victory.
3. That pass is the pass he was at one time better than anyone at, the quick slant from the slot, which he turns from an 8 yard gain into a 65 yard TD gallop.

That, IMO,would be fitting.

I have no reason to think that Donald Driver is not fully capable of doing precisely that, if given the chance to do so.

I'd like to see that, too.

Yeah, just like you're capable of bedding down triplets in there mid twenties. [duh]

You know what. If he helps us win a superbowl on or off the field. May It be 1 or 2 catches. I'm pretty happy either way. He knows he's on the decline. He's like Jeff Saturday, one of the best professional players ever. I hate to compare MJ to these guys but that's something that all teams look for. A pros pro.

I never did hear where Nonstop went. My imagination wants me to think he fulfilled his (apparent) life long dream of practicing gynecology, and just forgot about us little folk as he pursued his dreams in-depth, so to speak. Flapper

Well, he has an NFCNorth blog with live interviews and everything (I was on once, zombie was on, what, three time?). I haven't been there in some time. And they just had another child. I'm hoping to get together with them sometime this month.

And, alas, that's all the gossip I know.

It was a sad moment seeing the look on Driver, and knowing they could have had him dressed and even playing. Having Ross active for returning kicks only was kind of a waste of a roster spot if you are putting Cobb back on punts. But there may still be some life for Driver being active this season. With Nelson being hobbled some, I could see Driver being active the next 3 games.

Why? Ross touched the ball on every kick-off and gave us a chance to score, while not having on of our better offensive players play a position where he could quite possibly get hurt.

What would Driver really have added that's worth putting him on the field over either Jones, Nelson, Jennings, Cobb and maybe even Boykin. He might be awfully slow, but Driver's not that far away from a 4.7 40 right now, himself.

Driver was active for 13 game this season and averaged 0.6 catches and 5.9 yards per game. Had he been a free agent signing, or not that high character a guy, everyone would be calling us crazy for not having cut him quite some time ago.

I love Driver. Both as a person and a player. But no one can beat time. He should just retire. Actually, he should've just retired a year ago.

Every kickoff? All 3 times including the last onside kick that he grabbed and walked OB with? Boykin did not practice all week and I don't expect him to be ready to go unless possibly for the SB when we get there.

The question is, if Nelson should aggrivate his Hammy, and goes down, are we better off with Ross or Driver as the replacement for our #4 WR? We can sit back and take touchbacks and go from the 20 if the worry over getting Cobb hurt is that big. Better have him fair catch all punts in that case also. But the damage to the offensive gameplan would be far worse if Ross has to become our #4.

At this stage I think Ross and Boykin are both prob better receivers than DD. If they were not Mike would have Donald suit up on game day.

On the other hand, neither Boykin nor Ross have shown us much of anything significant in their limited opportunities, and who knows how they'll hold up under pressure in the postseason. If it's 4th and goal from the 6 with 20 seconds left in the super bowl and we're down 6, who do you want out there as the #4 - Driver, Ross, or Boykin? I'm also in the "DD should have retired last year" camp but I haven't seen enough of Ross or Boykin in high-pressure situations to make me more comfortable with them than Driver.

Boykin I would agree with. Not Ross though. Just over a month up from the practice squad and primarily doing nothing but Special teams.
