At one point I read there was extreme swelling and they were waiting for the to subside, apparently it did and it revealed the damage.
The medical staff is going to catch hell either way.. they withheld the Bulaga status and got blasted. In this case, they went with what they knew, reported it through the ranks only to find it was incorrect and going to catch hell.
That said.. yes, this year has seemed suspect at best in reporting the injuries.

I must be missing something. Why are we entitled to know the exact injury immediately?
Anyhow, I hope it is not an ACL tear. Jerel Worthy himself said it wasn't serious so I'm hoping he's right.

It's funny how fans are so demanding of immediate info on player injuries when that info is least likely to be accurate. Then they flip out when that info turns out later to have been inaccurate.

I'm not demanding immediate info of injuries. I'm just surprised by how many times it has taken weeks for our medical staff to determine a player needed surgery, or how many times our players have received 2nd opinions that directed them to have surgery while our medical staff did not. It's been an odd season when it comes to injuries on our team, that's all.

just sayin, ACLs and junk are usually reported in the next day or two, how this took weeks is really weird.
I know it's just a couple weeks, but if I were a player, I'd want to start rehabbing that knee ASAP.

Surprised by how long it takes them to determine surgery is necessary, or surprised by how long it takes for it to become public knowledge that surgery is necessary?

Well.. if this is to be correct in him missing some of the OTA's only.. it would lend itself to not being an ACL. Either way... more details.
Quote: As Jerel Worthy cleaned out his locker Sunday, the Packers' rookie defensive lineman insisted he didn't need surgery on his injured left knee.
Two days later, Worthy had undergone knee surgery, according to a league source. Worthy's recovery could last into spring, potentially keeping him off the field when organized team activities begin.
"From what I know, it's a bone bruise; kind of a serious bone bruise," Worthy said Sunday. "Coach (Mike) McCarthy is very adamant about not putting guys out there that aren't going to be able to contribute to the team. I had to sit back, relax and what I'm trying to do is make sure that I'm ready to go when that time comes next year."
The Packers traded up to draft Worthy in the second round with the 51st overall pick. After a relatively strong showing throughout training camp, Worthy's rookie season didn't live up to his high draft position.

Writers, sportscasters, fans, etc. expect that the draft/rookies are going to fulfill a team's needs immediately. This rarely happens. This is one of the reasons Ted Thompson thinks BPA is the best way to go. Hopefully, Perry and Worthy can come back healthy because the second year is usually the biggest improvement. Even though Perry didn't play much, he has a better idea what to expect and still had coaching and film to learn from, plus the motivation of being able to play again.

If they know all these guys needed surgery for weeks before making it public then I am really annoyed with them wasting time on having the surgery done, rather than doing it right away like every other team in the league does. :)?

Not all injuries have a single course of action. Its not like Sherrod with a new joint created in mid lower leg . Look at Jennings, he could have played with shots and let it heal up after the season, and they tried to see how it would heal itself before making the surgery decision. would ahve been better for us fans watching had he had it right away. One of the times Tauscher wrecked his knee, it took something like 10 days before the swelling went down enough for the MRI.
No sense ruling a player out until 100% certain. Doing so is just an advantage for the opponent.
