We do so much at the line of scrimmage, both offensively and defensively, I just think sometimes we rely on it too much.

When I call a play it may have three components. This one's good. This one might be a lot better. Well, good's good. A lot better is good, too.

But let's not always try to get to a lot better. There's a lot of merit in putting your hand in the ground, going after it and playing with faster tempo. No different on defense.

The thing everybody needs to do, if we've got to rely on scheme all the time to win then we're not doing what the head coach believes in.

Whip his ass. Stop worrying about if he's in a four-technique or a four-eye (technique). Keep it simple, stupid. KISS.

He also added this about the 49ers game .. "Did we handle the scheme very well? No. As coaches, we're supposed to put them in position to be successful. In the same breath, I don't want to hear about, 'We need to run this, we need to run that.' Let's just play our leverage and trust the guy next to us. Let's not be peeking and reacting to every damn thing."

I must agree 100%, fundamentals over scheme. If you have to run trick plays to beat someone, you aren't really beating them. That's why I don't care for the zone blocking scheme. I don't want finesse crap, I want big fatties pummeling their opponent into submission so when they line up against the Packers they be saying "ahhh shit, here is another ass whooping".

THIS!!!!!!! =d> =d> =d> =d>

Some of the best teams in the past had studs on the line that pummeled the opposition.

The Hogs in Washington. Steel Curtain. Dallas Doomsday defense also their OL in the 90's was excellent. Rams Fearsome Foursome with Deacon Jones, Merlin Olsen, and Rosey Grier. Jack Youngblood and Fred Dryer were added in the 70's.

Of course there is an exception to every rule. Those purple pansies were more hype than bite. That said Alan Page was a stud.

Well, that Eller feller was a pretty good player. Page was better overall, but I think Eller owned the Packers.

Next to Joe-who-needs-a-spiral-for-a-pass Kapp, I think Eller was my least favorite Viking back when I was a kid. He always seemed to be destroying Packer quarterbacks.

But if I could have go back and draft any VIking from that era for a football team today, I think it would be him.

68md: wet blanket ? He works his ass off to keep the place going for you ?
Smokey: Zero, Why are you such a wet blanket host ? A real SB "Chat" should have been a priority for this site. Wet Blanket strikes again.
Zero2Cool: BTW, I'm not saying you're an asshole. I'm stating a fact, that's all.
Zero2Cool: You don't get it. You confuse right and privilege. Assholes don't deserve privileges. Get it, got it, good.
uffda udfa: Talib playing a Burfict half so far.
uffda udfa: You have an R rated section on a Packers board. I think moving the guys you really don't want rocking the boat to their own forum is a great
uffda udfa: I think the same was likely said at KFAN when it was suggested they have a Packers show. I believe they still have it. I used to produce it
Zero2Cool: Seriously think what you're asking and do so before asking. Unreal.
uffda udfa: Aaron walking gingerly in that SB MVP introduction thing.
uffda udfa: May I suggest something? How about a "Packers Cynics" sub forum. A place for the Dakota's and me. I would exclusively post there.
Zero2Cool: One way or another, there is going to be a big change coming to PH.
uffda udfa: I don't want to be difficult but you do for some reason. I know you've been dealing with a lot.
Zero2Cool: Precisely what I thought.
uffda udfa: Nah, that's okay. I already asked.
Zero2Cool: If you want your name changed, you need to send me a PM with the name change. Thank you.
uffda udfa: Hey Kevin...can you change my moniker to: Unfrozen Caveman Poster? No more uffda udfa. Possible?
Zero2Cool: Today's Birthdays: Smokey (59)
Porforis: Because clearly having bi-weekly distractions in the form of antics and crimes wouldn't hurt the team
yooperfan: together. He is a waste of oxygen
yooperfan: Manziel is a very disturbed young man who is looking down the barrel of a prison sentence not too far down the road unless he gets his act t
TheKanataThrilla: He's better than what we currently have backing up AR.
Smokey: A backup what, bartender ?
TheKanataThrilla: Looks like Manziel is getting cut. I'd be interested in him as a back-up.
Zero2Cool: Dunno.
Smokey: WILL WE HAVE A SB "CHAT", Zero2Cool ?
Mucky Tundra: I wonder if Stat Padford will follow Johnson to the retirement center?
uffda udfa: Winston Moss has a better all time win % than MM at 1000%. Let's make this permanent. :)
uffda udfa: We should take note and realize our Jordy might not be Jordy at 31 this season.
uffda udfa: I think Detroit has a way of doing that to players.
Zero2Cool: Calvin is retiring at age 30, just like the great Barry Sanders.
uffda udfa: He'd be 31 just like Jordy but his body is done.
uffda udfa: Sources: Calvin Johnson told Lions he's retiring.
Zero2Cool: Today's Birthdays: BobBrews (70)
uffda udfa: Who doesn't love Bolt Travolta?
Smokey: Lightning "Bolt" ( Chargers )
