I really don't see how they could do that much front-loading. If he is indeed going to average $21-25 million, which I also expect, there is no way anywhere near that average could be put against the current cap. Adding the $14 million Rodgers and Matthews currently will count to the $18 we are currently under makes it $32 million. Deduct the $10 million for draft picks to leave $22 million. While back-loaded contracts for Rodgers and Matthews can easily be done without straining the cap, even a straight-line amount for them - maybe $20+ for Rodgers and 10+ for Matthews would blow up the cap severely. I'm sure Thompson and Ball know all about this, but it's amazing how the media can be so dense.
