This sentiment is why I was hoping he'd land on the Broncos or Lions. He'll go into the Hall of Fame as Charles Woodson and his bust will have the teams he played for listed, which is obvious, everyone knows this and doesn't need to be told. But I was pulling for Broncos or Lions because I could see the Packers being forgotten by Woodson. Sounds silly and innocuous, especially considering the Pcakers helped him to the only Super Bowl victory of his career. However, the more I think about it, the more I think the Radiers were probably the best fit for him to finish.

I understand this sentiment as I more or less feel the same way.

With the announcement that Charles Woodson signed with the Oakland Raiders today, the outpouring of sentiments was strong, both good and bad — especially on Twitter tonight. Hard to read some of the fans posts and not laugh. He went to Oakland and not Denver because Oakland is paying him more money. They will sell it as his "coming home" blah blah bullshit. I'm not in his shoes, but I really don't understand the point in taking the money at this stage of the game. No doubt agents and union reps would disagree with that sentiment, but a second ring sure helps his cause for the HOF rather than having Peyton Manning embarrass his ass and the rest of the shoddy Oakland pass defence.

If you are at the very end of your career and the offer is near vet minimum for no sure thing v. a cool $4.3M, you wouldn't take the latter? He already won a SB and he will be in the HOF.

Charles Woodson is a business man who understands the value of a dollar. There are a lot of those with this deal, one that places him right in the middle of his (backyard) Napa Valley TwentyFour vineyard...

Woodson also knows the odds of landing a 2nd ring. They are taller than we might think.

You're right that this was all about the money, and a sound business decision. I wish him well.

I am just saying to act like it is a homecoming to Oakland and not a money grab is pure BS. That is all. I think he will be in the HOF too, but with the limited number of guys that get in and the plethora of good players who are still not in, I don't think it is the slam dunk and wonder whether we are blinded by being fans.

To be honest I don't know what I would do if I was in Woodson's position and had his bank account. I think playing for Denver or San Fran gives you the most sure thing that you will be playing for a Super Bowl. He had an offer from Denver. I'd rather go out with a playoff team, then one that you know will be near the bottom of the pack.

The AFC West is only one unfortunate neck injury away from being up for grabs for any of the teams. The Seahawks could squeeze the 49ers out of a playoff spot too. It's unlikely, but this isn't the 90's anymore. The NFL has a lot more parity where we see playoffs of yesterseason struggle to enter the playoffs the following year.

Publicly, no one knows what the actual offer from Denver was. The incentives could have been easier to attain $3 million than the Raiders incentives. I think he chose the Raiders because of familiarity, and because he'll get more playing time. I think those weigh right there, maybe more than a few hundred thousand dollars to a man who's made millions and is in the twilight of his career.

Charles Woodson said if he enters the Hall of Fame, he's going in as a member of whomever he plays for last. Although, we all know it doesn't happen like that.

Good interview by Jason Wilde.

Charles Woodson said:
Man, I just thought it was an incredible journey. I enjoyed my time there, I had a great deal of fun, I was able to do a lot of great things there – a championship, defensive player of the year, some great friends on that team.

What I did my time in Green Bay, I just did things differently than when I was in Oakland. When I was in Oakland, I was young, and I had a lot of fun – maybe too much fun. Coming to Green Bay, it allowed me a chance to refocus on what I really loved, and I loved playing the game of football. It gave me a chance to really come there and do what I wanted to do as a football player and concentrate on that. It did wonders for my career. I would say I did things differently as a player and a person, and I got better.

I look at my time in Green Bay as nothing but positive as a person or a career is concerned. There’s really no hard feelings. That’s the way the game goes. You just have to move on sometimes.

uffda udfa (2h) : Just rewatched Cobbs hail mary catch in slo mo...he should've been flagged for OPI. Got away with one.
uffda udfa (4h) : Nope. I like Gus.
beast (4h) : Did you want Anthony Lynn as HC? Cushion Bradley was going to follow Lynn where ever.
uffda udfa (5h) : Gus Bradley is new DC in SD/LA. I would've loved to had him here in Green Bay.
uffda udfa (9h) : It's just fine.
musccy (10h) : 5 questionable Packers, none for Falcons. Not good.
uffda udfa (10h) : Jordy not listed as OUT or DOUBTFUL. Questionable on injury report.
uffda udfa (11h) : This is the 6th straight game we've faced someone for the 2nd time. We learn.
uffda udfa (11h) : Aaron: I like our role. I like our chances. (said he relishes being an underdog)
uffda udfa (11h) : Aaron alludes to fake crowd noise at Georgia Dome for Sunday.
uffda udfa (12h) : So, to recap. Losing streak "just the way it is", winning streak "astronomical feat". #Balanced
uffda udfa (12h) : Ironically, he called the turn around "astronomical" not just the way it is in the NFL. #Don'tMissTheIrony
uffda udfa (12h) : Ted tells Demovsky the Packers weren't underachieving when 4-6. Just the way it is in the NFL????
Zero2Cool (16h) : Only time I recall getting annoyed is when they beat a single topic over and over and over.
Pack93z (16h) : Most yes... Heller seems to get it more so... diversity in his coverage... but seemingly can highlight the pressing issues properly.
Zero2Cool (16h) : I'm kind of in the boat that they all are babblying boonies.
Pack93z (16h) : God bless it... Bill Michaels can be a stubborn SOB at times... love his Packers coverage, still think he is a buffoon at times.
Zero2Cool (17h) : Jordy Nelson Named PFWA Comeback Player of the Year
Zero2Cool (18h) : Carter is predicitng the end is in ATL for Packers.
Porforis (18h) : Or I could just completely miss the part where that was Cris Carter.
Porforis (18h) : Careful there. Don't you want to predict a Packers loss just in case?
Zero2Cool (19h) : @criscarter80 :Every fairy tale comes to an end, and this is where the magic carpet ride stops in the ATL.
Zero2Cool (19h) : McCarthy: "JC Tretter actually had surgery Tuesday. He won't be available this week"
Zero2Cool (20h) : Crosby is fine now. Full Participant in practice Thursday
Porforis (20h) : What I'm more worried about at this point is WR injuries and Crosby being sick. Who'd be the backup if Crosby can't go?
Zero2Cool (20h) : We do have hope. Our secondary has improved. Also, he had to throw 80% to get 1 point up. That won't happen again.
Zero2Cool (21h) : I like to tease sometimes.
uffda udfa (21h) : Only 80%? :). We lost by one given that stat? Wish we had hope of tightening up.
uffda udfa (21h) : Z, u should tell everyone who Quintorris is. Quintorris Lopez Jones, better known as Julio.
Zero2Cool (21h) : Matt Ryan completed 80% of his passes against Packers in October.
uffda udfa (21h) : McGinn goes full on attack mode dismissing the notion of "Packers people". Harsh.
uffda udfa (21h) : McGinn says John Dorsey likely to be next Packers GM.
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Boom! Davante Adams says last year's ankle injury "more difficult to deal with'
uffda udfa (20-Jan) : Packers brass potentially leaving? Not worthy of discussing. Pressure Cooker? Never enough talk about them.
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Put Quintorris in a pressure cooker.
