Tight end. Historically, being one hasn’t exactly been glamourous. In decades past, unless your name was Kellen Winslow, Mike Ditka or Ozzie Newsome, people rarely noticed the position. Being a tight end on most teams meant staying home to take on defensive ends and linebackers while sealing the edge on running plays. It meant [...]

People at times get upset with me saying this, but (when healthy) Quarless seems to move a lot better than Finley does (meaning quicker/faster), which has always had me excited for Quarless and then his blocking is pretty good as well though not great.

That being said, Finley has a natural feel for all the small parts of the passing game such as walling off defenders, when he realize they're there and tracking the ball with his eyes very well (though he sometimes takes his eyes off the ball too soon, before the catch).

Quarless doesn't have that natural feel to help him nearly as much, and at times has SERIOUSLY had trouble tracking the ball (for what ever reason) at times, like the ST fake kick to Matt Flynn throw to Qaurless, he seems like an out fielder blinded by the sun looking for the ball.

It just feels like the further they move Quarless away from the center the worse he is.... I think they could use him a lot like they use Cobb... but you know 6'5" 250 pounds and can block... and he does have the power burst for it and have used him on screens and stuff before.

It doesn't seem like very long ago, I was defending and touting Quarless, and almost everybody else was saying they should give up on him, etc. Now suddenly, he is coming back from injury, and he's the greatest thing since sliced butter. I hope so - I've always been a believer in him, but as hopeful as I am, I'm not 100% sure of his quality, work ethic, etc. - maybe 97% sure hahahaha.

Dude's got a chance to be a player, and he's gonna be hungry as hell.

There we go! This was my feeling as well. Back in 2010 I loved Quarless. Did not trust him with the routes as much as his blocking, but saw him as a huge factor of our success that year when he took over for Finley.

From what I heard at OTAs, it seems like this guy has only improved in the area of moving in the open field / ball location. If that is the case, then we have a great competition at TE this year.

For the first time since 2010, I am genuinely ecstatic for training camp competitions across the board.

With what I expect will be a greater emphasis on running the ball, I would not be surprised if he takes over the starting job by game 4. I expect Finley to have a big year...being a contract year and all, but as good as he is, Quarless has a more versatile skill set and I think they will want to use more of it going forward.

Quarless dropps Jared Allen like a pole axed steer and goes for a 22 yard pass.

On the same play.

Zero2Cool (3h) : Who the hell gives a shit about Sat/Sun now? 3rd to 7th round? F U
Zero2Cool (3h) : I thought Sat/Sun was great. You make a weekend of it. Have buddies over, cookout, etc.
TheKanataThrilla (4h) : During the afternoons I tend to get caught up in family routines. I don't mind that for the later rounds.
TheKanataThrilla (4h) : I now take Friday off work. It is a bit annoying, but I do find it fun at night as I can crack a few beers and enjoy. Sucks if they trade out of the first round though.
wpr (11h) : I liked the Sat Sun version.
beast (17h) : HELL YEAH! ... the draft was SOOOO MUCH BETTER in the ol Saturday/Sunday format... only people that I've heard disagree are those that don't really follow the draft and just random get updates on thei
beast (17h) : Key word there is "proven"... not if they're true, but if you can prove it. Jerry Jones said the same thing for Greg Hardy, it wasn't "proven".
Zero2Cool (19h) : Flat out honesty from 49ers GM
Zero2Cool (19h) : John Lynch: “if these charges are proven true, if Reuben did hit this young lady, he won’t be part of our organization moving forward.”
Smokey (19h) : 49ers / Bye Week / Rams
Zero2Cool (20h) : Brian Gutekunst: “Draft was way better when it was Saturday and Sunday.”
Zero2Cool (23-Apr) : With pick #14, @CFD22 has the @Packers selecting UTSA DE Marcus Davenport.
Porforis (23-Apr) : He'll probably resort to buying and using Chicago Bears tickets.

Zero2Cool (17-Apr) : Jimmy Graham on choosing Packers -- Why Green Bay instead of New Orleans? "#12 is hungry
DarkaneRules (17-Apr) : When he talked about missing guys he didn't mentioned Greg Jennings :)
Zero2Cool (17-Apr) : it won't though. thus, off-season = hate season
gbguy20 (17-Apr) : these quotes from arod should shut people up
Zero2Cool (17-Apr) : Jimmy Graham on whether he's still the same Jimmy Graham: "I'm still 6-foot-7 and still run a 4.55 (40)."
Zero2Cool (17-Apr) : TE Jimmy Graham said he turned down a lot of money to sign with a team he said he feels can win it all. “12 is hungry,” he said.
Zero2Cool (17-Apr) : Aaron Rodgers on potential extension with Packers: "There's interest on both sides in getting something done"
Zero2Cool (17-Apr) : "You have to trust the process. And the process works." Aaron Rodgers
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : I think Barkley would be crazy good with Aaron Rodgers.
porky88 (15-Apr) : If the Packers trade into the top 10, I think it's for Saquan Barkley.
buckeyepackfan (15-Apr) : Lololol
buckeyepackfan (15-Apr) : Need to use this statement "The Packers have wasted enough years of AR's career"
