If you count Charles Woodson as a member of the Green Bay Packers, the franchise totaled three players who were included on the NFL Network's Top 100 Players of 2012, including Clay Matthews and Aaron Rodgers. Cobb will be on there next year, bank it.

I wouldn't really say that's a travesty. He was pretty much the primary WR most of the year and didn't reach 1000 yards. He racked up some return yards but wasn't even top 10 in average for either KR or PR. Yeah you could make an argument to put him as a top 100 player but it's not really horrible that he wasn't on it. He's still one of the youngest players on the team so he's got time to improve lol.

Anyone else see the irony that the best passing offense in the NFL for 2 years running doesn't have a WR in the top 100?

In spite of leading the league in TD receptions in 2011 for Nelson and 2012 for Jones.

The Packers should have 3 WRs in the top 10 of all WRs.

Marshall shouldn't even be able to the list from where he is. He was 40% of the 3rd worst passing offense in the league.

Megatron doesn't have anyone else on his team, so he gets all the targets.

How many yards would Apete get, if they had TWO other RBs who were just as good?

Probably 2/3 of the yards. With 3 APetes, would you EVER throw the ball?

Your points are noted, but I disagree with you. Put Nelson, Jones, or Cobb on the Bears - and would they have equal stats with Marshall. I really doubt it. Our receivers benefit greatly from having the best quarterback in the league. I think the list is more about pure talent then stats.

Marshall was 40% of the Bears offense with just under 200 targets. That is more than Jones and Cobb together. Who were about 36% of the Packers offense and just over 200 targets. Jones and Cobb caught 22 TDs together and Marshall caught 11.

The TDs mean a heck of lot more than the yards when it comes to winning or losing.

If Marshall was on the Packers, he would probably be the 4th best WR on the team. He would be cut because he would get way to much for a #4 WR.

The only reason Marshall puts up big numbers is that he is the only one they are throwing too. If he plays with the Packers, Rodgers spreads the ball around and gives him maybe 100 targets. He probably gets 3-4 TDs and maybe 500 yards a year.

With those kinds of targets, Jones, Nelson and Cobb would put up more production.

Kind of like Drew Brees putting up higher passing totals than Rodgers while not being as good. He just throws it 20% more than Rodgers to make up for Rodgers being 20% better than Brees.

No matter how many APs you have, you still only get a 100 yards and one TD a game combined average. They can't all get the ball every down.

Rodgers can do 255 yards and 2.125 TDs a game average.

That is why you throw it.

AP can't beat an average QB in yards and scoring. Even in his best year. Much less his average year.

I find it funny that Chicagos offense was just as good or better with Johnny Knox and Roy Williams as their WR as they were with Marshall.

I believe PFT.com did a story on the top 100 awhile ago that said,

after being pressured the NFL released how they came up with their top 100.

They give players some sort of sheet and ask them to fill out who they think the top 20 players in the NFL are. And take that list the #1 guys gets 20 points... #2 gets 19 points and etc... and they make the top 100 that way.

And some players have claimed NFL players don't even vote in it... and I think the NFL released info of how many players they had vote in it and it was a pretty small % of the players that voted.

But hey... some how Kuhn got in it one year...

When is the last time a strictly "fundamental west coast" offense won a Superbowl?

Atta boy just avoid answering the question. By the way the last 6 or so teams threw the deep passes you hate so much more than the supposed stat whoring rodgers did last year lol. You should probably avoid acknowledging this fact too!

Me I prefer they stick to using McCarthys offense that has actually won a Superbowl recently than some ancient "fundamental" system that hasn't seen success since the 1980s.

Zero2Cool (9-Feb) : he didn't play like a Superstar vs Panthers, he doesn't deserve new deal.
