Answering a fan's question on the Packers' website, Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy said he thinks the time is coming for Favre to be honored by the team....<img alt="" border="0" src="http://stats.wordpress.com/b.gif?host=profootballtalk.nbcsports.com&#038;blog=15932921&#038;post=2195116&#038;subd=nbcprofootballtalk&#038;ref=&#038;feed=1" width="1" height="1" />

They will then unretired his number before 2017, then think about retiring it again before 2018, then probably retire it again, maybe.

Well Played OlHoss. Many people have said similar things but I think you said it best.

to be honest I was very much in the anti-Favre camp during his embarrassing exit. However, I also appreciate how much he meant to the team during his tenure and while I am not a big fan of retiring numbers (Reggie White, long-time Eagle is retired?) I think it's the right move. Canadeao, Hutson, Starr, Nitschke and now Favre? Sounds about right.

Not to derail this topic, but I think Reggie White's number was retired more so because of his sudden passing which was I think five or six years after he last played for the Packers.
