Wrong wrong wrong, You tried to make this same assertion before without backing it up with any facts, and it just doesn't hold any water. I have never heard of anyone anywhere trying to get rid of football and I am certain I live around a LOT more of the people on the side of the ledger you accuse of this than you do.

The fact is, people love football enough that they will tolerate some of the worst nonsense from the league and it won't in any way diminish the league's power and popularity.

In addition, the rules change now as they always have and the game rolls on. It's far more popular now than it was 30 years ago when it was more violent, just like football 30 years ago was far more popular then than it was in 1905 when Roosevelt rewrote the rules, utterly changing the game forever SPECIFICALLY for safety purposes. (You want real football? Go back to the days before the wussy forward pass).

The only way the NFL will fall apart is if it implodes with a lockout far worse than the last one. Hell, hockey lost a season once and still does well.

The great majority of my ideas are my own, but this one, I must confess, came from none other than Rush Limbaugh. Usually, his ideas come AFTER I post them - leading me to suspect that his people are on the alert for anything I post so Rush can use it. Since he owes me several, I thought I could use his idea without quoting him just this once hahahaha. And hell yeah. if it's FUN / ENJOYABLE / DELICIOUS / PROFITABLE / GOOD in any way, you can depend on the God damned leftists - either for fairly mild reasons of intrusive do-gooderism OR for pure despicable anti-Americanism to try to get rid of it. And you better believe, football is on their hit list.

There's your problem. Thanks for clearing that up.

The idea that because something is popular now it will always be is just silly. The NFLs biggest trump card right now is its ability to attract casual fans. A couple strikes and/or lock outs later and those casual fans won't be there any more. Watch the quality of the games decline as the talent pool dries up as parents refuse to let their kids play football and let their brains turn into scrambled eggs.

I like the NFL of 20+ years ago a bit more. It seemed to be more balanced offensively and defensively as well as the offense seemed more balanced too. The NFL now seems to have too many rules and can be unnecessarily complicated at times. What's a catch one game, isn't the next. The rules need to be more black/white.

I think it was the same back then, just less and not as good cameras catching every little detail like now. I like a lot of things from then better too, obviously, but the main difference now is not so much the nitpicky rules as the more and better cameras in position to show all the late hits, dirty hits, traps instead of catches (or vice versa), in bounds or out, etc. It's hard to say whether all that stuff improves things or not - kinda depends on whether it benefits the team you want to win on any given day hahahaha.

thanks Post received 1 applause.

Smokey (4h) : Fine wpr, U2 has your's and the other's permission to piss on any member at any time. woof
Zero2Cool (4h) : But we can assume if someone doesn't know, they can ask, or perform an internet search. Move on.
Smokey (5h) : Potential NFL Draftees and Players are asked to take it to score how smart they are .
Smokey (5h) : Wonderlic is a cognitive ability test, usually administered to new employees.
Smokey (5h) : It should not just be assumed that everyone knows what,"Wonderlic" is .
Zero2Cool (6h) : Most players don't care about wonderlic. Some agents prep players. Not reasonable standard.
beast (6h) : We shouldn't judge. ..
uffda udfa (7h) : He has a rep for keen football intelligence. Some guys just don't come across as bright.
uffda udfa (7h) : What thing should we judge intelligence on? Wonderlic is out to you. How he sounds is out.. what is criteria?
uffda udfa (7h) : Are you taking issue with him not being particularly bright? Based on what?
beast (7h) : It's sad your judging a person brightness on such shallow things...
shield4life (17h) : Resign Nick Perry
uffda udfa (20h) : Need some strong sharp passionate voices on D. Daniels gives great quotes.
uffda udfa (20h) : Nick Perry seems to be the team leader as he was giving pregame speeches that seemed very uninspiring.
uffda udfa (20h) : Morgan and his 14 wonderlic. Ever hear him talk? Man, not a bright guy at all.
uffda udfa (20h) : Burnett needs to be replaced. That's our leader? Or one of them? No, thanks.
beast (22h) : For the secondary, I think Burnett/Haha are the leaders.
Smokey (22h) : GB needs a new motto : DEFENSE RULES ! , is intended to change the direction of the Packers focus moving forward .
Smokey (22h) : Thank You Zero.
Zero2Cool (22h) : Great reading a thread and seeing "defense rules" spammed in them all. Great reading material.
Smokey (23h) : DEFENSE RULES !
Zero2Cool (23h) : Think you need to defensive leaders. Front Seven and Secondary. We seem to lack both. Daniels is closest.
beast (23h) : Packers players had a right to complain when they were being bullied by Mike Daniels... just talking about Packers ;-) jk
Zero2Cool (23h) : It was the 26th largest margin since 1940. Feels much worse
Zero2Cool (23h) : thought it was biggest margin of victory in Conf Championship, I was mistaken.
Smokey (23-Jan) : Wow ! The Packers got disrespected too !
Smokey (23-Jan) : Hello ?
uffda udfa (23-Jan) : Can't. MM burned them all.
Smokey (23-Jan) : go pack go ?
wpr (23-Jan) : Smokey AND Uffda, you both ca be placed in a timeout. Stop it.
Smokey (23-Jan) : go pack go :)
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : STOP! Talk Packers or STFU. K thanks. :-)
uffda udfa (23-Jan) : Ranting about everyone to stop talking Wolf while talking cooking appliances.
uffda udfa (23-Jan) : I told you the truth. It upset you. U were hypocritical.
