Some have asked to see a percentage. This is not feasible to have a sort by this because someone could easily pick the 'locks' and get a high percentage. But for fun, I threw together a query and got something to show for kicks.

Code:

Might want to check that query... Wayne has made over 200 picks? Big Grin

When you make 214 picks on September 10th, 2013, that'll be the case. The query takes all picks made and doesn't use a parameter for 'up to' the current week.

Ahh... so he has filled in his picks for the year already forward.. makes sense.. but it also highlights a problem as well.. the picks for this week are going to be misses as there is no result yet.

Can it be queried if the winning/correct team is not null?

Yes sir. It's more so just a glimpse that it can be done. I had a stumbling block on a work project and my mind went awry. :)

The structure of the database tables ... has room for improvement, but still offers a lot of flexibility to do as you suggest.

Easiest addition would be to add a condition that

AND GameDateTime < GetDate()

I think that would ensure the game has to be played or ... my mind just went blank. Lost my thought. I'll come back later if it comes back.

swell now everyone will want to pick early.

BTW- does it change the data above when I come back and revise my picks later? (That is not counted as selecting twice?)

Since I have voted early, over the course of the season I have changed my vote on a few games each week.

the timestamp is inserted on first selection. each time you change your pick, it updates the timestamp. the timestamp is nothing more than a way for big brother to spy to ensure one did not change their pick AFTER the game started or was concluded. there are no queries against it since all loopholes have been extinguished.
