Quote:The Green Bay Packers released 19 players and placed three on injured reserve. Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations, announced the transactions Saturday.
Released Saturday were wide receiver Jake Allen, cornerback Scorpio Babers, defensive tackle Conrad Bolston, center Brennen Carvalho, safety Tyrone Culver, linebacker Spencer Havner, tight end Joey Haynos, running back Noah Herron, guard Ryan Keenan, linebacker Danny Lansanah, defensive tackle Alfred Malone, running back Vernand Morency, defensive tackle Daniel Muir, cornerback Joe Porter, wide receiver Johnny Quinn, wide receiver Taj Smith, wide receiver Brett Swain, tackle Orrin Thompson and fullback Corey White.

Wow, we're thin at DT.
Herron is the biggest surprise IMO.
So is the fact that we kept 7 LBs.
Trade anyone?
I expect another DT to be signed before our season opener. |

I'm only a mild bit surprised we didn't keep one of Morency or Herron. I thought we'd keep four backs plus a fullback. |

I think its kind of stupid to get rid of 3 DT. Also I don't get why we got rid of Herron. I think we really have to worry about those two positions because we don't have a lot of depth if something happens to picket, grant, or jolly. |

I thought Morency might be traded for a 7th. But he is good at protecting the QB and Herron was the 3rd down back. Interesting. |

some of those guys not surprised herron i was but i did feel him and morencey would be gone because of lumpkin i hope they find a good dt and long snapper :compress: |

Interesting. The only real thing that bothers me is herron was cut yet bush still makes the team? With 4 safties even? I figured bush would be around if only 3 safties were kept. Most of this seems inline with thompson's theory that you keep the best players you have, and not keep around guys just to fill gaps. Looking at the DLine i think its safe to assume jenkins will be getting a lot of work at DT this year, and perhaps motgomery as well. |

Maybe there's a reason x player was cut instead of y player is because of a possibility for picking up a (better/cheaper) free agent? Yes yes, I know it's not really Ted's style. |
