He really isn't the most gifted player on defense...

And I agree with him, I hope we don't get Peppers.

TED THOMPSON, DON'T LISTEN TO ALL THE HATERS, LEAVE PEPPERS WHERE HE'S AT!!

"Don't listen to all the haters", what the hell is that all about young man?

What I meant was that the vast majority of the Ted Thompson haters want him to go and spend money on a big name...I don't want him to do that with Peppers.

I would rather wait a year and spend that money on Shawne Merriman when he is a free agent... I know he is coming off of ACL problems, but he is great and the Chargers aren't gonna be willing to pay him.

Merriman's ACL problem must not have been as bad as others. He tried to play with it in the first game, and then he decided to go on with the surgery.

Which is why I'm throwing it out there... I have also heard that the organization and Merriman arent happy with each other, so possibly we could get him in a trade. And with the ACL injury, get him a little cheaper.

Well if his contract is up after this year, then the ACL thing might be a non factor in a trade. That all depends on how he plays though.

He'd probably cost us about a 1st or 2nd round pick in the draft probably though...

Even if his not going for the big money, some GM will over pay him just to have him in there team.

As a comparison, what were Reggies similar average stats when he came here?

When Reggie White came to Green Bay in 1993, he had (not including two years in the USFL) 794 tackles (570 solo, 224 assists); 124 sacks, 2 INTs, 0 passes defensed, and 4 fumble recoveries in 8 seasons.

That's an average of 99.25 tackles (71.25 solo, 28 assists); 15.5 sacks; 0.25 INTs, 0 passes defensed; and 0.5 fumble recoveries per season.

His lowest single-season totals for tackles (76) and sacks (11) while in Philadelphia were higher than Peppers has averaged his entire career.

For comparison purposes, if look at the 10-year period that includes his USFL seasons, his totals rise to 987 tackles (98.7/season); 147 sacks (14.7/season); and 6 fumble recoveries (0.6/season).

Truly a remarkable paragon of longevity and consistency.

Oh, man, how I wish to have seen Reggie play for the Pack. I'd love to meet him, had he not passed away way to early.

As for Peppers, I really don't know about him. I think it'll be a gamble, but he fits the mold of a Charles Woodson. If he turns out the same, we would have a very good defense.

Still makes you wonder where to put him though. He's to expensive to only play on several downs (Then again, I thought the same about KGB) and you don't want to get Cullen out of the game. That's why I'd prefer a big DT or Cullen moved to the middle from time to time.

I think the Packers may send the money on a young upstart LB like Michael Boley. Here is what walter football has to say about the Falcons lb...

Michael Boley, Falcons. Age: 27.
What happened!? A year ago, Michael Boley was one of the most promising young linebackers in the NFL, and was consequently listed as a 4-star player on this chart. In 2008, Boley was benched. I'm listing him this high because he's just too talented not to rebound.

He is a good cover lb that can bring a vicious rush. Here is his stats...

Career Stats more
Season Team Tackles Interceptions Fumbles

2008 Atlanta Falcons 16 12 73 63 10 0.0 -- 9 1 16 16.0 16 0 -- --
2007 Atlanta Falcons 16 16 109 93 16 3.0 -- 7 2 12 6.0 12 0 -- --
2006 Atlanta Falcons 16 13 85 67 18 3.0 -- 4 2 44 22.0 40 0 -- --

Also he is one hell of a special teams player.
