Yesterday, we beat the Lions 48-25. Yes, it was lopsided, but there's always room for improvement, especially since everyone else will be looking to improve as the season goes on. In order:

1) OL. Aaron Rodgers was incredible. The Lions were getting past our OL but Aaron Rodgers dodged bullets like a superhero back there. I guarantee you that Mike McCarthy was not happy with the way the OL played yesterday. Aaron Rodgers shouldn't have to do what he did yesterday, and our RBs also took some hits behind the line, which is not good.

2) Mike McCarthy needs to be more aggressive. We did this against the Vikings as well. We started getting comfortable and look what happened. 21-3 soon became 25-24 in their favor because we failed to put them away.

3) Safeties need to position better. This will matter when we play teams like the Cows.

Not a thing to improve, but I was wondering why Mike McCarthy kept Ryan Grant in there. What the heck was he thinking. It was obvious that Grant should have been resting on the bench and not playing football. We'll need Grant against the Cows, and we risked aggravating that injury.

Anything else anyone would like to add?

Fully agree, "we let them off the hook" comes to mind.

Also agree on the playing of grant, he should have sat the whole game in my opinion. I'm Impressed w/ Lumpkin and he needs the reps.

definitely the OL needs improvement.

also, i think it's gonna be KEY that we don't always go for the INT but that we TACKLE the hell outta them. bat the ball away, hit em hard, whatever...just don't allow too many YAC's & i think we'll be ok.

Our running game seems like it's back to how it was at the beginning of last season. Tiny glimpses of light, but overall nothing spectacular. Of course, Grant being hurt doesn't help. We really need to be able to run the ball against Dallas to win. I don't want to have to strictly rely on Rodgers' arm to win the game.

That's the thing. Lumpy comes in, gets 19 yards on one carry. Meanwhile, Grant can't get a four yard run. WTF? Pull him and put in Jackson/Lumpy. I just don't get what Mike McCarthy was thinking.

If Wells could get healthy we'd get that flag-magnet Moll out of there. He's a decent player, but that many flags is just unacceptable for a single player.

The flags man, the flags! I think we need to assign someone to steal the refs flags just before kickoff. It's getting crazy go nuts out there man.

I'd love to get Wells AND Sitton back for the next game. I don't know if that can happen. Sitton is a big mauler who could help our running game, and Wells is one of our more consistent players.

The Grant injury is holding the team back as well. The good thing is that, at least so far, none of the injuries are season-ending, so there is hope that the team will be mostly healthy within a few weeks. Look what a difference it made having James Jones back in the lineup. A healthy Grant, along with Wells and Sitton, could make an even bigger difference.

Mostly what the Packers need is the killer instinct. In both of these wins, they have let the other team hang around WAY too long. I think it's had less to do with play-calling and more to do with the players being unable to sustain their intensity level. Now, of all the things we could be complaining about at this point in the season, this is about the best we could hope for, but still, if the Packers are an elite team they need to do a better job of closing the door when they get a lead.

I'll address this point by point.
1) I love Wells for his consistency. He's consistently good, and we're really missing him right now.
2) Yeah, we should have rested Grant last week. Maybe Mike McCarthy got greedy and was thinking we could have had two 100-yard runners.
3) I put the blame for the lack of killer instinct on Mike McCarthy . Don't get me wrong, I think Mike McCarthy is a great coach, but he needs to put opposing teams away. Both games we had them backed in a corner and failed to throw that final punch.

The thing is, I think #3 will be fixed. Mike McCarthy 's good at fixing his mistakes. #2 I'm worried about because he looked awful against a team that was awful the week before against the run. #1, I guess we just need to be patient.

But it's not like they went completely conservative. At the end of the half, they were leading 21-3 with less than 20 seconds left and they went with an empty backfield and tried throwing the ball downfield. Then in the second half, they were trying to throw on first down in their own territory when Rodgers got blindsided and fumbled the ball. After that, they got stuck deep in their own territory a couple times in a row, and maybe McCarthy got a little gun-shy, but I still think it falls mostly on the players to win their battles and avoid those situations.

When you take the lead, the other team is going to play with some extra fire, and you have to be able to counter them, which means blocking the guy you are supposed to block and beating your man off the line of scrimmage when you are running a pass pattern. When the Packers got the lead on Sunday, their players stopped doing those things. I think this is a problem McCarthy needs to address mostly by changing the mindset of the players, rather than play-calling.

OL
Long snapping
Run blocking
Harris in Zone, I like to see more of that, what we did see for this game looked good.

Zero2Cool (3h) : Maybe this little shout has no value if people gonna use it instead of the forum.
Zero2Cool (3h) : He's not writing. He's shouting, and its making the shout kind of without point with the clutter.
buckeyepackfan (7h) : Just like last year at 4-6. The guy is just too funny!
buckeyepackfan (7h) : GOOD news Uffda is already all but writing The Packers off for 2017!
uffda udfa (12h) : Masturbation talk from Barfan? Nothing could make me COME back, quicker.
wpr (13h) : Maybe the shout box needs to take a timeout. People keep using it. ;)
Zero2Cool (13h) : Why do this is in shout? So frustrating. Post in forums. Thanks
Barfarn (13h) : Masterbation will relieve some of that nervous tension!
uffda udfa (15h) : Now, a guy they really liked and have groomed for 3 years is the guy. Tons of toys on O. Let's see how it runs with a great coach, now.
uffda udfa (15h) : The Flynn Patriots game has been used to say that he is. Seneca and Scott showed otherwise.
uffda udfa (15h) : Hundley is going to settle the debate once and for all in whether Mike McCarthy is a great coach, or not.
uffda udfa (15h) : Doesn't speak well to the talent acquired by the org, does it? Easy to say talent is great until Rodgers is gone and you have to see it wit
Porforis (16h) : Could Sam Bradford come into the Packers and post a winning record from here on out? Are there any non-starters in the NFL that could?
Zero2Cool (16h) : Teddy is replaceable. Aaron is not. Vikings have a really good defense. We do not. Understand??
Zero2Cool (16h) : You are wise enough to know the difference. Right?
uffda udfa (17h) : Here's one for you, Z. Vikes lose Teddy B. and go out and aggressively get Bradford. Packers lose 12 and go out and get a UDFA.
uffda udfa (17h) : :) Evans had a pre-draft visit with Packers.
Zero2Cool (17h) : Put it in a topic. My lord why so difficult lol

uffda udfa (18h) : Was previously on Eagles PS
uffda udfa (18h) : Tweeted the below due to huge chip on his shoulder for going undrafted after leaving early.
uffda udfa (18h) : Packers add Jerod Evans to PS. He went undrafted: https://twitter.com/rodfor6_/status/858382534274682884

uffda udfa (16-Oct) : @ProFootballDoc says Rodgers could return Week 14 at earliest, and surgery speeds up return timeline.
Zero2Cool (16-Oct) : McCarthy dropped a "bullshit" on packers.com stream. No delay apparently lol
Zero2Cool (16-Oct) : @AaronNagler One thing is crystal clear: McCarthy is pissed at the way his team played yesterday.
Smokey (16-Oct) : 2017 Packers are done , time to focus on the 2018 NFL Draft .
Zero2Cool (16-Oct) : Mike McCarthy says Aaron Rodgers "suffered a significant injury". Will require surgery. Potentially season could be over.
