http://sports.espn.go.co...09/news/story?id=4434939Quote:Brett Favre told ESPN before the Minnesota Vikings' game on Monday that he suspects he may have a cracked rib.
Favre hasn't had an official diagnosis, but he says taking a deep breath causes discomfort. The 39-year-old quarterback isn't listed on the injury report and no other other Vikings official mentioned the injury pregame.
The three-time MVP says he has no plans to wear any kinds of special padding, saying "the damage is done." Favre is expected to play the entire first half against the Houston Texans.
Favre, who signed a $25 million deal with the Vikings on Aug. 18, completed just one pass for four yards over two series in his Minnesota debut just days later.

Has he changed his mind on it being broken yet?

Yes, he has. Here's the latest from ESPN: "Favre admitted Monday night that 'I really don't believe' the rib is cracked and hasn't had any tests to make a final determination."

fyi a rib out of alignment can cause similar symptoms as a cracked rib; although less pain. But the breathing difficulties etc ... If I remember correctly I think farve has visited for treatment the school I went too (chiropractic) in the past so he may be familiar with whats going on in his body etc ...

What interests me most about this story is that Favre mentioned the rib even though nobody else in the organization had mentioned it. That's very unusual, and I think it is further proof that Favre can do pretty much whatever he wants in Minnesota. I don't think that's a good precedent to set, but that's what the Vikings have decided to go with in order to get him on their team.

There's no way his rib is cracked. Bruised, maybe. I've had pretty much every variety of that sort of injury, and there's no way he could go out and throw a football around/take hits if he had a cracked rib, unless he's back on the vicodin or something.
Yeah, I know he's tough. Nobody's that tough. I expect it's a bruise, and the way that line's been blocking for him so far he should expect to have more of them.

I just had one around the 4th
it hurt every time i took a breath , and moved my arm.
X-rays can't show a cracked rib from what I was told ( the muscle and cartilage? surrounds it so much hard to see it) and the treatment is the same...
Mine was right above my heart closer to middle of chest..

I've had a cracked rib and it hurts like a bastard. I'm not iron man Brett Favre but I'm not a complete push over and it HURTS. When I first cracked my rib I couldn't stand to breath or pull a shirt over my head, much less throw a football.
It's all about the drama.

Yeah. You had REAL cracked ribs.. lol
I don't think Favre ever had a cracked rib. Maybe he meant that the pain he feels, is like a cracked rib.

It's all about the drama.
I was hanging some gutters one time and fell off the ladder and luckily the ladder broke my fall. I'm quite certain I had several cracked ribs. I was out deer hunting a couple weeks later and after filling our tags, my hunting party decided we should blast some pheasants before going home and I said I didn't want to cause my ribs hurt. Naturally I was called a pvssy by all of them and had to take my position walking the field. When a rooster popped up in front of me I just let it go. When my buddy chewed my ass cause for not shooting, I chewed back and said: I can't lift my shotgun dumbass.
Moral of the story: Brett doesn't have a cracked rib.
