Though neither Hawk nor the team has discussed specifics about the injury McCarthy on Monday called it a chest sprain it has been significant enough to sideline Hawk, who never had missed a practice in two NFL seasons or in four years at Ohio State.
Also, it usually isnt a good sign when McCarthy describes a players status as week to week, which is the designation he put on Hawk before saying, I dont think hell make it this week.
...
Less than three weeks until the opener, and some media centers are reporting that Hawk may miss it. Chillar is currently filling in for him. |

This would be a big blow. Right now it's a little early to get concerned about anyone. I'll wait until I see the injury report and what his status is for the game. |

We can't lose Hawk for the opener against AP. Is this Hawk's first significant injury in the NFL? I remember some report saying this may be the first time he's even missed practice.
Oh well, here's to hoping Chillar will provide some help week 1 if Hawk doesn't go. |

Oh well, here's to hoping Chillar will provide some help week 1 if Hawk doesn't go. Yeah, Hawk has never missed a practice before in his NFL or college career. That is why I was surprised when I read this. |

No disrespect to AJ.. but I am more concerned with Pickett getting on the field and ready to go against the Vikes.. Harrell.. ahhh yeah.. maybe midseason coming off the PUP. |

Hawk didn't seem that worried. I don't think he'll miss much time. We definitely need Pickett and Jolly playing for the start of the year. |

Yeah... I'd really love to see AJ on the field again vs AP. Not that I'm hoping for an injury to AP or anything, just saying it seemed like AJ had that hole under control. Chillar didn't seem to be doing too badly against SF though... so, we'll see.
I'd rather have him 100% healthy for the final 80% of the season than at 80% in the first game and get 100% injured. |

Too true. +1 for you! A "chest sprain" could be anything though. The way he got hurt, and it being listed as a "chest" injury, I'm worried it's a collarbone or pectoral injury, both of which could take a loooooong time to heal, but I hope it's something much more minor... *knocks on wood, formica, and anything resembling wood* |
Thanks to Pack93z for the sig! |

No sweat PIB.. borrow the leg.. just make sure you return it, gotta little of all as described above. On topic.. I agree.. let him get completely healthy.. we have some pretty decent talented depth at LB.. Between Chillar, Bishop, Hodge or White.. we should be able to cover our bases at LB.. |

Between Chillar, Bishop, Hodge or White.. we should be able to cover our bases at LB.. you have formica in your leg!! awesome. but seriously... you are exactly right. Chillar, Bishop, Hodge and White are all very capable linebackers and reason enough not to push Hawk. I still don't think Grant or Hawks injuries are real concerns. I think its just coaches being safe until football games that mean something are on the schedule. |

Not having Hawk would certainly hurt. I think many of us would realize how good he really is if and when he was not in there.
However, props to T.T. for going out and finding QUALITY backup to a crucial position within the defense. No, I'm not kissing Ted's ass, I'm just saying, I think it was a good move.
And I don't really see how one could argue with such. |
