It appears we've had a pretty good '08 draft. From Yahoo Sports: Quote:Rd. 2/36, WR Jordy Nelson, Kansas StateBlazing playmaker was relegated to No. 5 receiver spot most of the preseason and probably wont be much of a factor on offense right away. Could make an impact as a kickoff returner.
Rd. 2/56, QB Brian Brohm, LouisvillePreseason struggles with timing of delivery and accuracy make him a shaky No. 2 backup behind Aaron Rodgers.
Rd. 2/60, CB Pat Lee, AuburnSolid cover guy will get his chance at some point to be a nickel or dime back but, for now, will bide his time contributing on special teams.
Rd. 3/91, TE Jermichael Finley, TexasBy default, he is projected to enter the season as the No. 3 tight end, though his one-dimensional play as a sure-handed receiver and not a blocker means contributions could be minimal this season.
Rd. 4/102, DE Jeremy Thompson, Wake ForestDisappeared in the preseason with fits of inconsistency and didnt take advantage of Kabeer Gbaja-Biamilas extended absence to contend for a No. 3 or 4 role at end on the depth chart.
Rd. 4/135, G Josh Sitton, Central FloridaPotential starting assignment at right guard for the season opener was upset by a knee injury late in the preseason that will sideline him four weeks. Could have a tough time regaining the starting spot when he returns.
Rd. 5/150, T Breno Giacomini, LouisvilleFeisty lineman is a developmental backup to right tackle Mark Tauscher this year.
Rd. 7/209, QB Matt Flynn, LSUConsidered an afterthought as the third quarterback on the roster when training camp opened, the heady signal caller who helped LSU win the national title last season was better than Brohm in preseason action and made a case for being the No. 2 guy. My man Donald Driver (thanks to Pack93z for the pic) 2010 will be seen as the beginning of the new Packers dynasty. |

I guess I'm reading it differently from you, zombie. Sounds like only Nelson, Sitton, and Flynn have exceeded expectations, and none of them by a whole lot. So I would say that at this point the draft is looking about average, though of course it's way too early to tell.
With the team's improvement, it's harder for rookies to make a splash, so that factors in as well. |

You can't really tell how a draft really went until 3-4 years down the road. |

Well, here's how I'm seeing it:
Nelson - will contribute immediately. The only reason he hasn't broken the top 4 is our top 4 is as sturdy as they come. I don't think any team has our depth at WR. He'll get some KR duties though, which he should be good at.
Brohm - ?
Lee - Will contribute later. Looks like a good prospect.
Finley - Will make the team and when he gets better at blocking down the road, imagine Lee and Finley as our TEs. Lee's solid, and having a pass catching TE opposite Lee will give opposing Ds nightmares.
Thompson - Not enough to judge yet.
Sitton - We might even see him start a few games in his first season.
Giacomini - Supposed to be our T of the future. Looks like a good prospect.
Flynn - May prove to be better than Brohm, and we picked him in the 7th round.
I think the draft definitely helped make the team better. |

Looks like they don't think much of Swain since he didn't make the list.
Breno Giacomini better hope there is room on the Practice squad.. he has been a huge disappointment in my eyes. |

I remember saying " what" really loudly? I was wondering who this guy was, and then I looked up his stats at Kansas St. Then I had optimism. |

i remember when the pack drafted freeman in '95 (i was about 9 years old at the time). It was funny; because at the time my dad screamed, " who the hell is antonio freeman?!" boy was he mad. Needless to say, it turned out just fine... and whenever Freeman mad a big play, I'd yell "who the hell is antonio freeman?!" and my dad would just smile and glance at me knowingly.
i think you guys know where im going with this. |

By now I know better than to get too upset with Ted Thompson and hiss picks but like most of them I wondered why they picked this guy and who is he. |
