Rodgers would be pissed if we traded R Martin.

If the offseason was any lesson here in Green Bay.. players don't run this team.. if moving Martin is a good business decision, then you pull the trigger on the deal regardless of Rodgers personal feelings about it. IMO.

Bishop, Hawk, and Barnett, hmm....
I'll have to think about that one. You are right though that Barnett loves the middle spot too much. And he's dang good at it, so I think he stays there.

Barnett is a heck of a middle backer.. but he also gets shallowed up in the blocking at times as well.. with his speed and agility he would be a prototypical outside backer.. no doubt he has a world of talent. IMO, Bishop or even Hodge would provide more stoutness to the center of the defense.. Bishop and especially Hodge don't have the same type of range to play the outside as say Barnett..

Now before I get pummeled, I not saying move Barnett, I am saying be open to putting the three best players on the field at one time.. IMO, those are the 3 best LB'ers on this squad.

If we could get a really solid DT, we would have a heck of a 3-4.

Didn't they go with four a few times in some packages? Maybe not in any games but I thought that it was reported they had four LB's in there on certain situations and Barnett was saying the coaches have put more schemes in now that they all have experience.

McCarthy actually half-joked about using a 3-4 D before the 49ers game, he said his injuries might force him to play a 3-4.

What struck me as odd was that there was no way McCarthy would do that unless his D had gotten reps in a 3-4. That suggested (to me at least) that at some point this off-season McCarthy might have installed a 3-4 alignment for certain situations.

We have the players, Jenkins/Montgomery/Jolly/Harrell and Pickett might possibly be the NT in the 3-4.

The thing is, was he half-joking?

The only time we'd see more than 3 linebackers on the field is in obvious passing situations, but even that isn't likely, IMO.

Kampman and KGB at DE and Jolly and Jenkins at DT are a fantastic defensive line in passing situations.

I think Bishop or Hodge.

I think one of our backs could be enticing to someone but nothing more than a 7th.

Beyond that the other guy would Ruvell Martin but I wouldn't trade him at all. I think he's a valuable asset to this team and quite frankly I like the fact that the Packers have 5 good receivers. Without him, I really don't see a good enough case for someone to be the 4th and 5th receiver. I also like Jordy Nelson but Martin is clearly the better player in my eyes.

As far as Barnett. I don't think you move a guy who probably should of gone to the Pro Bowl last year. I was once a strong advocate of moving Barnett because I felt Abdul Hodge could be a really good middle linebacker and I still feel that way to some extent.

I think GB would be better off trying to move Bishop to SLB. It'd be tough transition and it would be bumpy but in the end if he's your 3rd best linebacker then it might be worth it.

uffda udfa (6h) : Just rewatched Cobbs hail mary catch in slo mo...he should've been flagged for OPI. Got away with one.
uffda udfa (8h) : Nope. I like Gus.
beast (9h) : Did you want Anthony Lynn as HC? Cushion Bradley was going to follow Lynn where ever.
uffda udfa (9h) : Gus Bradley is new DC in SD/LA. I would've loved to had him here in Green Bay.
uffda udfa (14h) : It's just fine.
musccy (14h) : 5 questionable Packers, none for Falcons. Not good.
uffda udfa (14h) : Jordy not listed as OUT or DOUBTFUL. Questionable on injury report.
uffda udfa (15h) : This is the 6th straight game we've faced someone for the 2nd time. We learn.
uffda udfa (15h) : Aaron: I like our role. I like our chances. (said he relishes being an underdog)
uffda udfa (15h) : Aaron alludes to fake crowd noise at Georgia Dome for Sunday.
uffda udfa (16h) : So, to recap. Losing streak "just the way it is", winning streak "astronomical feat". #Balanced
uffda udfa (16h) : Ironically, he called the turn around "astronomical" not just the way it is in the NFL. #Don'tMissTheIrony
uffda udfa (16h) : Ted tells Demovsky the Packers weren't underachieving when 4-6. Just the way it is in the NFL????
Zero2Cool (20h) : Only time I recall getting annoyed is when they beat a single topic over and over and over.
Pack93z (20h) : Most yes... Heller seems to get it more so... diversity in his coverage... but seemingly can highlight the pressing issues properly.
Zero2Cool (20h) : I'm kind of in the boat that they all are babblying boonies.
Pack93z (20h) : God bless it... Bill Michaels can be a stubborn SOB at times... love his Packers coverage, still think he is a buffoon at times.
Zero2Cool (21h) : Jordy Nelson Named PFWA Comeback Player of the Year
Zero2Cool (22h) : Carter is predicitng the end is in ATL for Packers.
Porforis (22h) : Or I could just completely miss the part where that was Cris Carter.
Porforis (22h) : Careful there. Don't you want to predict a Packers loss just in case?
Zero2Cool (23h) : @criscarter80 :Every fairy tale comes to an end, and this is where the magic carpet ride stops in the ATL.
Zero2Cool (23h) : McCarthy: "JC Tretter actually had surgery Tuesday. He won't be available this week"
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Crosby is fine now. Full Participant in practice Thursday
Porforis (20-Jan) : What I'm more worried about at this point is WR injuries and Crosby being sick. Who'd be the backup if Crosby can't go?
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : We do have hope. Our secondary has improved. Also, he had to throw 80% to get 1 point up. That won't happen again.
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : I like to tease sometimes.
uffda udfa (20-Jan) : Only 80%? :). We lost by one given that stat? Wish we had hope of tightening up.
uffda udfa (20-Jan) : Z, u should tell everyone who Quintorris is. Quintorris Lopez Jones, better known as Julio.
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Matt Ryan completed 80% of his passes against Packers in October.
uffda udfa (20-Jan) : McGinn goes full on attack mode dismissing the notion of "Packers people". Harsh.
uffda udfa (20-Jan) : McGinn says John Dorsey likely to be next Packers GM.
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Boom! Davante Adams says last year's ankle injury "more difficult to deal with'
uffda udfa (20-Jan) : Packers brass potentially leaving? Not worthy of discussing. Pressure Cooker? Never enough talk about them.
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Put Quintorris in a pressure cooker.
