I saw an interesting thing about this, he had a gunshot wound to the chest. The same way Dave Duerson of the Bears ended his life. The point that was brought up was that they can also check the brain of Seau like they did with Duerson for past head injuries and disease from playing football.

He was a great player and a huge influence in his community and will be miss greatly.

I believe Duerson wrote that he didn't shoot himself in the head so his head could be examined. Something to that effect.

I respect the guy for what he did on the field, but can never respect the way he chose to end his life. His poor kids deserved better. May not be a popular post, but my honest opinion.

I agree. I do certainly feel empathy for him as obviously he had demons he dealt with.. But you are right, his family and close friends do NOT deserve this.

For me it's hard to understand. A guy that seemingly had everything. Money, fame, a family, and so on.
He could do whatever he wanted. If he liked golf, play every day. Fishing, hunting, whatever. He had the means.
It's difficult for me to understand. It's not like he had to worry about how he was gonna pay rent next month.
But who can see into someone else's mind to know what's really going on inside them?
Sad.

Dammit. Had a bad source.

Barry Sanders was All Pro 10 times, with 8 First Team and 2 Second Team.

Wanted to fix my mistake.

Over on ESPNMilwaukee.com Jason Wilde has an interesting article with Dorsey Levens on this subject. Some of the comments Levens made I agree with, like the (in jest) comment about having players wear leather helmets again and that in turn will make them more careful where they put their head. That's something I've said for awhile. Players are armored up and feel invincible.

Junior Seau's (say OW) family is allowing his brain to be examined.

OW?

When younger playing ball with dad, when he'd tackle me he'd say "Say OW!" if he got me good.

It was in reference to Seau's rookie card I had. He said Seau would be one of the great ones and cited how you could see in this card below that he was ready to give someone a hit.

The world really lost a special person.

Zach Thomas said:
I have never been around a man with more love and passion for the game of football than Junior Seau, and he lived life the same way. Junior was always fun to be around, always positive and made every person who knew him feel like he was their best friend. You never heard one negative word come out of his mouth. Junior just had this energy that followed him around wherever he went, almost like theme music. It was like he never had a bad day. As a young linebacker, Junior was my hero growing up and once I had the opportunity to meet him I saw that he was everything I hoped he would be and more. Getting the chance to play alongside of Junior Seau, the greatest linebacker to ever play the game, made my dreams come true. I am absolutely devastated to hear this news. Today I lost my hero, my friend, my buddy.

Gary Plummer said:
Junior obviously had been facing demons for at least 18 months. That's no longer speculation. People can take pills, run their car off the road and that's a cry for help. He was crying out for help. Yet he was too proud to ask for it. What I'd like to see done ... There is no exit strategy from the NFL. It's 'You're done.' You don't even get an apple and a road map. What needs to happen is mandatory counseling. In 15 years as a middle linebacker, I never would have thought of seeing a counselor. I saw one in my divorce, and I just called my counselor today. It can't be optional, because macho players are taught to be invincible and they're not going to do it. Make it mandatory.

uffda udfa (2h) : MM is such a creature of habit that this is going to upset his apple cart.
uffda udfa (2h) : Waited 2 hours than bused 125 miles to Milwaukee.
uffda udfa (2h) : Fog forces Packers to alter flight to Atlanta.
uffda udfa (3h) : Hoping Max McCaffery is the next Adam Thielen and right soon.
uffda udfa (3h) : Everyone knew Tate got away with OPI and even he said so.
uffda udfa (3h) : http://www.packershome.com/forum/posts/m218900-UN-Fucking-Believable#post218900
uffda udfa (3h) : Golden Tate pushed off big time in Seattle. I said it then.
Zero2Cool (4h) : Max McCaffrey Added to Roster, J.C. Tretter Subtracted
Zero2Cool (4h) : Read what I said about Hail Mary plays and referees letting players play. Got it? Good.
Zero2Cool (4h) : I absolutely would not. Don't dare presume to speak for me. WTF.
uffda udfa (4h) : Had it been other way around I would've been screaming and so would u.
uffda udfa (4h) : It's just true. I try hard to see it and tell it like it is. Was OPI.
Zero2Cool (7h) : which is of course ok, i just personally see it as weird.
Zero2Cool (7h) : Just odd that a Packers fan points out when Packers perceived to get away with something, yet ignore opponent. Weird.
Zero2Cool (7h) : Packers added RB Christine Michael (back) to the injury report as questionable
uffda udfa (7h) : Not diminishing anything. He got away with OPI. Didn't notice before. Was in airport.
Zero2Cool (9h) : Bahahahahahahha GO PACK GO!!!!
Zero2Cool (9h) : when you're buying your Super Bowl LI Champion gear, be critical of that too!
Zero2Cool (9h) : keep trying to diminish what the Packers have done and ...
Zero2Cool (9h) : one... that's just how it goes. They let the players play. But go ahead
Zero2Cool (9h) : Everyone knows on the hail mary type passes, those little shoves won't be called. Think replacement refs 2012. So, no did not get away with
Dulak (10h) : ya I think they mentioned that U U ... but you see this alot - even in the dallas game they pushed off at least 1 time (they as in dallas)
uffda udfa (16h) : Just rewatched Cobbs hail mary catch in slo mo...he should've been flagged for OPI. Got away with one.
uffda udfa (18h) : Nope. I like Gus.
beast (19h) : Did you want Anthony Lynn as HC? Cushion Bradley was going to follow Lynn where ever.
uffda udfa (20h) : Gus Bradley is new DC in SD/LA. I would've loved to had him here in Green Bay.
uffda udfa (21-Jan) : It's just fine.
musccy (21-Jan) : 5 questionable Packers, none for Falcons. Not good.
uffda udfa (21-Jan) : Jordy not listed as OUT or DOUBTFUL. Questionable on injury report.
uffda udfa (21-Jan) : This is the 6th straight game we've faced someone for the 2nd time. We learn.
uffda udfa (21-Jan) : Aaron: I like our role. I like our chances. (said he relishes being an underdog)
uffda udfa (20-Jan) : Aaron alludes to fake crowd noise at Georgia Dome for Sunday.
uffda udfa (20-Jan) : So, to recap. Losing streak "just the way it is", winning streak "astronomical feat". #Balanced
uffda udfa (20-Jan) : Ironically, he called the turn around "astronomical" not just the way it is in the NFL. #Don'tMissTheIrony
uffda udfa (20-Jan) : Ted tells Demovsky the Packers weren't underachieving when 4-6. Just the way it is in the NFL????
