Packers are saying the helmet isn't wasn't cracked.. just a striping effect. Not so sure about that, what type of striping has that type of jagged edge.. and why. Now the Packers would have every reason to not expose it.. as it may lend some explanation of why Rodgers seems a bit subdue yesterday. Beyond his elbow and neck.. what else might have been wrong with Aaron yesterday? Anyway.. your thoughts.. cracked or not? Supposedly James Jones Helmet.. Not the same design.. \/

This is new to me, where's your source for that? It looks like a crack to me but it's really hard to tell with any measure of certainty in one picture from one angle. |

The jsonline blog post about it... http://www.jsonline.com/...gs/sports/176260931.htmlThere was some talk about it this morning elsewhere. I went looking after I seen Rodgers helmet yesterday during the game.. found it on jsonline this morning. |

If the Packers let Rodgers or any player onto the field with a cracked helmet, than several people need to suffer some serious consequences. Once a helmet is cracked, it needs to be discarded and never used again. It can no longer absorb the impact as it's supposed to. I truly hope this was some type of optical illusion, or I would be incredibly disappointed and pissed off at whomever is in charge of overseeing such a thing. |

In video it sure looks cracked. But for it to disappear and change how noticeable depending on angle and lighting, I would have to see the actualy helmet (assuming it is cracked). I could easily not be noticed during a game. I don't think anybody is tasked with checking to make sure a helmet isn't cracked during a game.
In the still, it looks to me like the edge of the center stripe came loose. |

I don't think it was cracked. I wouldn't tag the Packers as an organization to send QB1 onto the field with that kind of danger, nor would I tag Rodgers to be that guy who is throwing on a cracked helmet to go play.
Edit: Correct me if I am wrong, but are these two separate helmets with almost identical things happening? |

I don't think there is a way that an NFL team would allow such a thing.. but just think if it is/was.
The fallout would be... wow.. where do you start and stop. |

The NFL and Packers are very particular in the uniform appearance. Why would they have inconsistencies like this? All things considered, I'm thinking the helmets were cracked and no one caught it until after the game was over. On a conspiracy theory thought, if the Packers strongly feel the helmets are unsafe and the NFL isn't doing anything about it, perhaps they leave the helmets on hoping one shatters on the field to get national attention that the helmets need a drastic upgrade. How's that for being 'out there' lol. |

Are the stripes on the helmet painted on, or are the stripes created by strips of tape? If painted, both helmets look as if there was excess paint on the brush/machine that applied it, and after pulling away dribbled the excess on the helmet. |

I can't believe any team would send their franchise player out on the field with a cracked helmet. That would be utter stupidity and the repercussions would be disastrous. |

Cracked helmets seems like the most unlikely case. |

If, and that is if, it was cracked and shifted slightly.. shadows may come into play.. and this very issue, the appearing and disappearing of the line is what really spurred me to look at the article in the first place. We noticed it on the broadcast I can couldn't catch it in real time. The Matthews one is a straight marking.. the jagged edge is the questionable part to me.. what type of striping would have such a jagged appearance? I think it is much about nothing in the end.. the Players would be the first one to disclose it since it is their health at risk. More curious to what it was/is. I have never noticed it other than this game.. |
