Astrophysics ... damn a bigger "nerd" than VR. lol.

But really... the last paragraph of the quote is the reason for the post.. that is almost spot on with a mindset I learned long ago. I knew I liked Jones for a reason.

Quote:

Linebacker Jones adapts to inside position

Green Bay - Brad Jones might be the only inside linebacker in the NFL who plays violin. For sure, he's the only inside 'backer who plays violin and studied astrophysics in college.

Jones, in his fourth year with the Green Bay Packers, once envisioned himself flying space missions for NASA.

"But NASA is not even doing manned space flights anymore," he said, "so it's a good thing I didn't go that route."

As for the Big Bang, these days it's the explosion that occurs when Jones meets a running back in the hole.

"Or the quarterback," he said with a laugh. "That's even better."

Jones, 26, is Exhibit A of coach Mike McCarthy's "next man up" philosophy. Starting "Mack" (weak-side) linebacker Desmond Bishop went on injured reserve with a torn hamstring in August, and his replacement, D.J. Smith, suffered a season-ending knee injury Oct. 14 at Houston.

Next up? Jones, who played outside linebacker his first three seasons in Green Bay (13 starts in 35 games) and at the University of Colorado.

"The whole thing about the NFL, actually about life, is that it's kind of about adapting," he said. "I think in my life I've been really good at adapting, being adaptable and making good things out of bad situations. You've got to be adaptable in all facets of life, and football just illuminates that."

Just doesn't have that killer instinct at OLB.

He might be better than Clay on the inside. LOL We've got three guys on the team about whom I could say that, although two of them are out with injuries right now.

Another player I've always liked and thought he would do much better because of his speed, especially as he matured and put on some muscle. He a nice player to have with our injury situation right now.

You agree with Mike McCarthy. Watched the latest edition of his show on packers.com, they talked about the good job Jones has done since moving inside.

Jones got a defensive game ball along with Devon House.

Screw astrophysics.

Two thumbs WAY up for playing the violin. That takes talent.

Nonstopdrivel (7h) : MRI would me mostly a formality. He walked off on his own power, so possibly just a sprain? But I doubt it.
Nonstopdrivel (7h) : Provocative tests on scene are pretty sensitive. If they fear his ACL is torn, it probably is.
Zero2Cool (7h) : He has an ACL? I only heard there were running tests ... tomorrow.
Nonstopdrivel (7h) : Depends on which Nick Foles arises from the ashes. If it's the 2013 Foles, Eagles could still be a powerhouse.
gbguy20 (8h) : carson wentz torn acl. is that good or bad for our playoff chances?
nerdmann (11h) : It's definitive, Davante is BETTER than Janis.
