This morning... other than getting the plow, truck and ATV ready for the snow.. we pulled out the Ice Shanty and started to take a peek at what needs to be done before we can get it on the lake.

Other than one rotted out tire that needs to be replaced... it is in pretty good shape.

However the mice sign was unreal.. there seems to be a ton of those little bastards this year.. so cleanup was done.

First year in several that I am in "Can't wait mode" for ice fishing.. but it will be a couple weeks yet. Only 4" on the lake right now..

People gather bundles of sticks to build bridges they never cross.

The only thing wrong with ice fishing is it's a little hard to troll.

2.5 inches on the lakes here and my buddies have already been out fishing. I'm more of a, not going out until I can drive a truck across the lake kind of guy.

Come'on you guys. Be brave....live on the edge. We don't have any ice on our local lake here in Lolo and I go out fishing on it in the winter.

Use a drift boat though!!! Lots of hot springs in the lakes and they don't freeze unless it gets Fairbanks, Alaska cold.

They don't understand what that means my friend. I like to use pissing icicles cold, but unless you've actually experienced a full on arctic blast - you can't fathom what that is. Lambeau cold really is balmy to us.

That's hard, it's true.....but just taking the 5 hours it takes to cut a hole big enough to fit the boat in is what keeps me from ice fishing.

Besides, i DID try it once.

I came home with 150 pounds of ice.

My wife damn near drown trying to fry it up.
