I think ANY team would live with the few flags to have a Charles Woodson in their secondary. Any smart team anyhow. While useful data, this doesn't tell us the whole story. Sadly, I wasn't able to find any stats on Times Targeted for DBs which would be an excellent way of measuring Penalties/Target, a much more telling stat. Comparing other useful stats, it seems to fit the above pattern for 2009 and 2011 (in them being comparable seasons across the board), but 2008 and 2012 don't really fit the trends. So, the below stats are pretty darn worthless but here they are anyways: Passes Defensed: 2008: 17 2009: 18 2010: 13 2011: 17 Tackles: 2008: 50.0 2009: 66.0 2010: 76.0 2011: 62.0 INTs: 2008: 7 2009: 9 2010: 2 2011: 7 |

Playoff experience out weighs any "negatives" that are or are not true about Charles Woodson. Hell before he was injured, he was playing just as much OLB as he was S. I like the fact that The Packers D is much less "vanilla" when Woody is on the field!!!! Life is better with MORE WOODY!!!!! |

It will be really interesting if he is retained next year with his high cap number. Try him opposite Clay. He might be a little light against the run, but he can both cover AND rush the passer. |
It's not whether you get knocked down, it's whether you get back up again. |

I think ANY team would live with the few flags to have a Charles Woodson in their secondary. Any smart team anyhow. That is only accepted penalties. He has had a bunch where the pass was still completed and penalty declined. |

He's way above average at safety but that should be his position in base. He should only cover the slower TE types in dime or nickle at times. hayward basically took over the slot spot so I don't see that being a worry. Woodson is also a dangerous pass rusher so he will upgrade that area as well. If Dom uses him where he should be used then this is only a big upgrade.
Oh and QB's still have to watch out for where he is cause he can still get the picks. |

Where do you get Hatred? I simply questioned why somebody says they are uncomfortable with his penalties when he has been known to be aggressive and get flagged because of it? |

The point of my original post was, why be uncomfortable now when what he does is what he has always done. Your numbers point it out as well. his best year DPOY he had 9, SB year he had 12, another 9, 07 he was flagged 12 times. this year before his injury, he was not on a pace out of the normal for him. It was not, a negative. It is simply that it is Charles. Al Harris use to get called for his physicality also. How he plays is what makes him successful. why be uncomfortable with that. |

Having both Woodson and Matthews on defense with a stronger defensive line makes this defense great. If all three levels of the defense has a playmaker, it'll allow Dom Capers to go crazy. |

What we miss with Woodson is his Toughness and his williness to play everywhere except as a defensive lineman...
The more players you can move around the better. Did you see what they did with Matthews? 1 week back and he's all over the field making fucking plays. We brought back that stunt that worked well all season, and they worked it to perfection.
I can't imagine what Woody will be put into. One of the best blitzing DB in the league will be back on our team and will allow us to open our playbook even more. Can't wait!
