Just because EDS was an upgrade over Saturday isn't indicative of the talent of EDS - it is indicative of how shitty Saturday had become. We could draft a second round center in this draft and make a major upgrade over EDS. I think Van Roten just may be our center next year. |

C is one of the top requests on my list. 2nd or 3rd round is just fine. I figure they would go a little higher on their tender to hedge against coming away it no C once again. |

This is true, but you have to take in account that EDS was an UDFA... Meaning that they wouldn't have to give up a draft pick to sign him. As average as EDS has proven to be, he's better than a lot of back-ups at C/G that are earning the same kind of money. I'd give him a look, at least. That said, he obviously wasn't worth the 2nd round tender, either. Like the article says, they're taking a calculated risk. Let's just hope that we won't regret it later on. Shields for a 2nd... With a guy like Alex Smith being worth more than a 2nd, a guy like Percy Harvin going for a 1st + 7th + Mid-round next year... I wouldn't rule it out completely that someone would make an offer to him. I know there's quite a big chance that he won't get an offer, especially since you can get a pretty decent CB on the FA market for whom you wouldn't have to give up a high draft pick, but they won't come as cheap as Shield. Or as good at just age 25. |

Which is not something we could use right now. |
