Quote:Jennings said he was looking for a fresh start, in part because of the Packers’ depth at receiver.
“I understand that they have a lot of talent … and they’re going to have to showcase that talent, and we all can’t be as successful as we want to be individually with so many guys around,” Jennings said.
“You want to have individual success, you want to have overall team success, but you want to feel like you’re a part of it, and it’s hard. It would be hard for me to sit here and say, man, I was in a great position, I could have thrived. And I believe this with all my heart, not one guy over there can really maximize their potential because of the depth we had.” Way to take one for the team, Greg. |

There is no "I" in team but there is a "Me".
So obviously it's all about the "Me" with Mr Jennings.
Well good luck with that in Minnesota where it's all about AP............ |

I understand how it might be difficult to think you are contributing as much to the teams success when there are 3 or 4 other guys who are doing at least as much if not more than you are. While the vikings are no where as good as the Packers if they do improve Jennings will play a major role in that improvement. Putting loyalties aside for a minute, because for the most part we all know there is no loyalty in the NFL, I can totally understand why Jennings would rather be part of a team where he feels he can play a much bigger role in their success.
As Packers fans some of us may have a hard time time seeing this because it is the vikings and we HATE the vikings. We say things like "all GJ cares about is himself" or that "there is no I in team" but you have to remember that Jennings is going somewhere that, in his mind, he can be a bigger part of the team. A place where he can contribute more to the teams success. I suppose you could argue that being concerned with HIS contribution to the team's success is still an indication of a "me first" attitude but I don't think it does. Every player wants his team to succeed and they all want to be a part of it.
If I could say anything to Jennings it would be that I understand why you made the move but I am sorry I can not wish you luck. If it were ANY team except the vikings (or the cowboys) I could honestly say I wish him a continued successful career but with the vikings (or the cowboys) I will have to hope he stays 100% healthy and his career falls off the face of the Earth.

He is all about himself and his own achievements and who can blame him? The move to the Vikings is still questionable because he said he wanted a good quarterback. I don't think he truly understands just how much better Favre and Rodgers made him look on the field as well as the cast of wide receivers that surrounded him.
The one thing that will truly help him in Minnesota is the Adrian Peterson factor, which he had mentioned in another interview he did.
The way I see some Packers fans acting (via Twitter) is pretty unreal. Yeah, he went to a rival but a lot of them are acting like this is AS BIG as Favre going to the Vikings. I don't agree with that. The Vikings invested a lot of money in an "older" previously injured receiver. Some of these fans should look at what the Packers have instead of what the Vikings gained. I'd say we still have it good as fans of the Packers.
The offense worked without him last season. |

Peterson is going to help Jennings? When was the last time an elite running back won the Superbowl? |

I'm not sure if you are just being super sarcastic or serious but the comment Jennings made about having the Adrian Peterson factor is that teams will always be stacked in the box to defend the running attack set by AP. This will then open up a lot of options for the passing game, thus making Jennings stats inflate. I feel like I didn't need to explain that...but there it is. |

Jennings is a great talent to pair with AP. No question. This was a total dollars & sense issue. The Packers had too much sense to give him the kind of contract MIN could afford. The Vikings got a great player. We couldn't afford that great player, yet, we remain far deeper at WR than the Vikings.

We don't seem to have a problem with a 10 year veteran going to a contender to get a ring why should it matter if a guy with a ring goes somewhere for stats and money. Did we hate Reggie for leaving his team for ours? Did with think Woodson was disloyal for leaving the Raiders to come to the Packers? Of course not. Why is it perfectly fine for players to want to come here but players who want to leave here are considered selfish. With the Packers he would have been part of a group of very talented wide receivers. With the vikings he will be the talented wide receiver. If the vikings succeed (playoffs or, God forbid, the Superbowl) Jennings will likely be a major contributor. If the Packers succeed he may have been a major contributor or he may have been just another cog in the wheel. I guess you could argue that this proves all he is interested in is himself but again, so what. He is still going to be a part of a team, he is just going to be a more important part of the team. We lost Flynn last season because he thought he was going to get a chance to be a starter. Were you upset with him as well? was he only in it for himself? Should he have stayed here in Green Bay and been part of the team or was it OK for him to want to be a bigger part of a different team. Its the same thing.
