With two rookies arriving in the draft and two other veterans bidding for playing time, this is not the right moment for a Packers running back to be missing practices. Thanks to surgery to remove a cyst near his lungs discovered during a team physical, that's just what DuJuan Harris had to do this spring.

Only 4 backs will make it and the Packers will have 2 different backfields.

1) Franklin and Green for Passing downs

2) Kuhn and Lacy for Power running downs.

Harris is still practice squad eligible!!

uh, no. 5 backs - in order, Lacy, Franklin, Harris, Green, and either Kuhn or Ryan Taylor, not both.

The point might be keep FB Kuhn or TE Taylor.
Mike McCarthy isn't about position, he is about talent.

If he has extra talent at one position, he will keep the more talented guy. Sacrificing numbers at another position where there is less talent.
Mike McCarthy just adjusts the plays to utilize the talent he has.

If we have a lot of TEs, we see multi TE sets.

If we have a lot of FBs, we see multi FB sets.

If we have a lot of WRs, we see 5 wide.

etc.

I am guessing Green backed up by Lacey and on 3rd downs, Harris backed up by Franklin.

Kuhn for utility and blocking.

We might see a few multiple RB formations. If they are all healthy.

Which I doubt will happen.

I discussed this in the depth chart thread. There are maybe 5 or 6 better TEs than Taylor. I would hope they don't keep Kuhn because he is overpaid and under-talented. Just the same, at times, somebody needs to serve as a fullback. I think Taylor's only hope for a roster spot is if he wins Kuhn's job - one or the other of those two, not both.

You guys thinking Green will really be ahead of Lacy and/or Franklin are falling for MM's line. It ain't gonna happen that way. He is just saying that this early in the game for motivation.

I hope Harris can come back strong after his surgery, but I have some doubts due to the nature of having a giant cyst removed from your chest. Hoping like crazy it is a non-issue. This kid runs with incredible authority for his size.

I don't see why it would be a problem.
