Besides being an award-winning screenwriter and touring comedian, I am going to be adding author to that resume. Children's Books, no less!

Are there any authors here or published folks who know a thing or two about this journey I am about to embark on? I'd love to hit you up and ask a few questions!

PS - That award-winning film I was talking about is available September 17th if anyone is interested: http://www.walmart.com/ip/25139224

that is awesome. A friend of mine has a son who has illustrated several children's books. I will see if I can get you an email address or something.

1. Find a good editor and treat him/her well. I don't know if you are planning to publish the traditional way or whether you are planning on self-publishing, but regardless, having a good editor is one of the most important things *any* author can have.
2. Find 2-3 readers who will point out problems.
3. Self-publish. IMO, traditional publishing is almost as effed-up an industry as higher education.
3. Self-market. Even if you go the traditional publisher route -- unless you are a "name," you're likely to get short shrift from the publisher in marketing your book for you. Get a copy of John Kremer's 1001 Ways to Market Your Books.
None of the above. It wouldn't have been a wasted vote. Obama and Romney -- Those were the wasted votes.
