Rough in the first half, although without the bullshit holding calls on Sitton, it would have looked (and been) FAR better.
In the second half, Lacy had 4.0+ per carry.

I thought the run game looked pretty good considering they were up against what's probably going to end up being an elite run defense. It's only week 1, Lacy has as many rushing yards as CJ Spiller, Marshawn Lynch, Frank Gore, MJD, and Ray Rice.

We will have to be a bit more patient with the run game. I believe it will come along slowly just gotta stick with it. If we don't see improvement as time goes on then I will be concerned.

And look at a just a few guys who had worse averages. Chris Johnson, Darren McFadden, Daren Sproles, Doug Martin, Matt Forte, Marshawn Lynch, CJ Spiller, Frank Gore and even though I hate doing this Adrian peterson had 17 carries for 15 yards after the first carry of the day.
Based on the 49ers game defense, I am encouraged by the way the Packers running game could take shape. The redskins gave up 210 yards to running backs last week. I think we will see a little movement up the stats board next week.
On the down side, I know Mike McCarthy says he is committed to establishing the run and he may well be but as others have said its not just running for the sake of running that keeps the defense honest. He is not very creative in the running game that is for sure. Handing off and running up the gut gaining a yard or two and saying you are committed just won't cut it.
I'd like to see a few more draw plays to take advantage of our passing threat and pitch outs to get our backs moving and not just straight ahead dives into the line.

Seriously, take away those bullshit holding calls on Sitton and Lacy's got what, three more 10 yard runs in the first half?
And that's against a tough DL.

Gonna post it again for those fo you who have Lacy in a FFL.
DON'T SIT HIM THIS WEEK!!!!!
150yds 3td's...BOOK IT!!!!
He will be that effective because Aaron is going to come out firing and when The Skins try to adjust to cover the passing game , that is when Lacy is going to break out.
It's been mentioned before,
The Packers strength is their QB and Receivers, use the pass to set up the run game, not as in the long ago past where a team would use the run game to set up the pass.
The Packers want to establish a solid run game, they have to get that 7th and 8th guy out of the box and then watch Lacy go wild!!!
Last time I'm gonna refer to 49r game.
That game could have went either way, turnovers and field position were the difference.
Even though The Packers were on the road, -2 in turnovers, and -25 in average start position, they still had a lead with around 5 minutes to go in the game.
The last 5 minute just didn't go their way, I don't want to see that again, early in the year when the weather is nice, IT'S ALL ABOUT PUTTING POINTS ON THE BOARD!!!!
The Packers can work on getting their run game up to par, but not at the expense of the passing game.
Those of you who want to blame this guy or that guy for the loss just quit.
THIS IS THE ULTIMATE TEAM GAME, YOU WIN AS A TEAM, YOU LOSE AS A TEAM!!!

And if when does do I get to pick someone?
I'll agree if you let me change that to 150 ttl yds, Packers did break that one good sceen last week.
Would be a shame if Lacy gets 125 yds rushing and say 25-50 yds receiving.
:-k who would it be? :-k

I'm not sure if the following point has been made yet as I haven't read all posts, but I think it is important to note that our tackles and center had a combined 10 regular season starts between them at their position (Bahktiari - 0; Barclay - 4; EDS - 6, though he has started others at guard I believe); 14 if we count playoffs. On top of that, we had a rookie running back. This game against the 49ers was a hell of a learning opportunity for some young players.
I agree we need to get more creative with our running. The draws worked well in the second half. I'm not sure running outside would have worked well against the 49ers given their athleticism, but perhaps we should have mixed in more counters as well.
In any event, the running game should only get better from this point. We may not face a better run defense all year and we have a lot of young pieces that should* get better.
*James Campen not withstanding

One game does not make a season. One game does not make for panic either. One running back also does not make a whole team.
Every single player you mentioned has a better running total as a team than GB. That matters.
Chris Johnson, Tennessee #9
Darren McFadden, Oakland #2
Daren Sproles, NO #19
Doug Martin, TB #24
Matt Forte, Chicago #17
Marshawn Lynch, Seattle #22
CJ Spiller, Buffalo #4
Frank Gore, SF #12
Adrian Peterson, Minny #11
GB #26
I think it is safe to say that finishing the game with the 26th best running offense in the NFL is an indicator that they have not made a significant improvement in the run game YET. Doesn't mean they won't. Just means they have not done so as of now. That they faced one of the toughest run defenses doesn't matter. That the OL is young doesn't matter. That they would of, should of, could of gotten more yards if only the nasty refs wouldn't have called the holding penalties does not matter either. Results are the only thing that counts.
What matters is they are 26th out of 32 teams. They need to improve. They need to do so soon.

I know at least one of the holds was right by the hole. If Sitton hadn't held maybe the guy tackles Lacy for 2 or 3 yards. but yeah there were a few nice runs called back.

Yeah, and who's to say those few longer runs would have even happened without the alleged holding calls.

I don't think I'd go that far but I can easily see the Packers having their first 100 yard rusher in what, 44 games? I could also see a couple of TDs, 1 rushing 1 receiving (though 1 would be more like it.
I'll say 22 carries for 109 yards 4 receptions for 27 yards and a TD

They were bullshit calls. Even the coaches publicly stated that much.
The running game isn't even on my list of worries.
