The Green Bay Packers haven’t had a more devastating weapon on special teams in the last three-plus years than Mason Crosby’s onside kickoffs. That’s in mothballs now. Crosby no longer kicks off.

There are, of course, two kinds of onside kicks - desperation at the end of the game and surprises anytime it seems like a good idea.

If it is desperation/no surprise anyway, Crosby could easily come in and kick it. If it is a surprise at some other point in the game, well, physically anybody could kick it, so let Masthay practice it and learn it. I see no problem with that.

1. Masthay has a much stronger leg(for distance), he can pretty much put the ball out of the end zone any time he wants.

2. Crosby can now concentrate on just FG kicks, doesn't have to worry about kicking off.

3. Masthay IS PROBABLY THE BEST TACKLER ON THE TEAM!!! Kind of kiddung here, but it is pretty much the truth.
Enjoy the ride – It kicks and just keeps on kickin’. "Stats are for Losers"

Masthay has definitely saved our bacon a few times this season!

I always thought Crosby had pretty good distance on his kickoffs, but if this is what it takes for him to be accurate on field goals then so be it.
