GREEN BAY — While the FOX Sports cameras didn't catch any sort of dust-up between Mike McCarthy and quarterback Aaron Rodgers during Sunday's 19-17 victory over the Baltimore Ravens, the Green Bay Packers coach insinuated Monday that he and his QB might still be butting heads a bit.

And as far as McCarthy's concerned, that's just fine and dandy.

Three weeks after the FOX cameras caught McCarthy and Rodgers having a somewhat heated exchange about play-calling during the Packers' loss at Cincinnati on Sept. 22, McCarthy said Monday that Rodgers is handling the adversity the offense has faced — injuries, uneven play, spotty pass protection and the challenge of integrating a suddenly productive running game — as well as he could ask Rodgers to.

"I tell you what, I love the way Aaron Rodgers is playing right now," McCarthy replied when asked if Rodgers has played to the standards he and the quarterback himself expect. "He's playing some really adverse football. This is very healthy for our football team in the long run.

"I don't like it. I don't like that I have to stand here and talk about the health of our team every week. But let's not forget who that affects most on offense. He's been asked to do things on the run that he's adapted to. He's played through some frustrating moments.

"I like him when he's salty and conflicting and all that. It's good to see that side of him. (The players) are all competitive, don't get me wrong. But he has a tremendous competitive streak in him. That's why sometimes I think we can all get caught up in the numbers and go 'Wow.' But I really like the way he's playing right now."

Asked why it's good that Rodgers is "salty," McCarthy replied, "Conflict is good."

Through five games, Rodgers has completed 118 of 184 passes (64.1 percent) for 1,646 yards with 10 touchdowns and four interceptions with 14 sacks for a passer rating of 101.9. Rodgers, the NFL's all-time career leader in passer rating, ranks fifth in that category this season and is on pace for 13 interceptions, which would tie his career high set in 2008, his first year as a starter. On Sunday against the Ravens, amid losing wide receivers James Jones (knee) and Randall Cobb (leg) to first-half injuries, Rodgers completed just 17 of 32 passes for 315 yards with one touchdown, one interception and three sacks (84.8 rating). Rodgers also fumbled twice on sacks, although the Packers kept possession each time.

While Rodgers' numbers may not be in line with the way he's played over the past three seasons — and he missed some uncharacteristic throws Sunday, as he had against Detroit the week before -- with the run game becoming a factor, offensive coordinator Tom Clements praised Rodgers' decision-making at the line of scrimmage on run/pass option plays. He said Rodgers adjusted the play call on Eddie Lacy's victory-clinching third-down run in the final seconds, when Lacy gained 4 yards around left end — the play had been designed to go to the right and Rodgers altered it — to convert a first down and allow the Packers to kneel down on the final snap.

Rodgers also made some big throws, like the 64-yard touchdown to Jordy Nelson (which traveled 61 yards in the air) and the in-stride throw to tight end Jermichael Finley for a 52-yard gain that helped seal the game at the end.

"I think he's playing well," Clements said. "I don't know how many adjustments he made in the game, run or pass — probably 14 or 15 or so — and (I would) maybe only question one or two of them. He's keeping us in clean plays. He's getting the run game to the (correct) side. He was under some pressure yesterday, but he made some big plays, especially later in the game. I think our entire offense did.

"We had been saying for weeks that we need to be at our best in the fourth quarter, and from the mid-third quarter on, our last four drives, we were outstanding. I think we had a field goal, a touchdown and a field goal then ran out the clock in a 4-minute situation. I think we converted 4 out of 5 first downs, got some big plays, got a long touchdown pass. It was a close game against an outstanding opponent, so it was good to see that happen late in the game."

Asked what he thought McCarthy meant about Rodgers being salty, Clements replied: "I've said before that Aaron is his own harshest critic and if he misses a play, an adjustment or a pass that he thinks he should hit, he gets upset and it bothers him and it gives him impetus to try to do better next time out. Which is good."

The team seems like it has an edge to it this year on offense and defense. I like the vibe they are giving off and I think if the offense just gets more in sync it will be great.

I like that we have a tough, physical offense and defense this year. It's definitely a different team than it has been over the last couple of years and i think this one is more built to win games in January and might win more of the close games than we are used to.

Who wants a QB that just says, Yes sir. It shows his confidence in his knowledge and ability that he will stand up to the boss. There are three sets of eyes, that each have different angles in what they are able to see on the field. QB, HC and OC. I know I have had bouts with my bosses at times over differences of opinions when I knew in my mind I was right.

I did notice once after a TO Rodgers giving McCarthy what appeared to be the I'm Watching You sign. They have a good relationship where they can not only argue, but joke.

During the game (3rd qtr?) McCarthy and Rodgers were over on the sideline during a time out looking put out with each other, and I made a comment in the chat that McCarthy and Rodgers were squabbling on the sideline again. So the cameras caught something...

Any of us who have been involved in the game on any level knows that coach-QB conflict is going to happen, and anyone saying different is a liar. Although we can only guess what the argument/discussion was about, one thing is obvious - Aaron is not going to be satisfied with anything less than greatness.

Personally I like that our team has some attitude - especially from our QB and coach. As a whole - this team seems hungry. I hope this "salty" attitude translates to a desire to be better every week.

uffda udfa (1h) : Incredible! Wilde's 53 man roster doesn't even have Datone Jones as "IN"...he's "looking good". Sad, a 3rd year 1st rounder isn't a lock f

uffda udfa (27-Aug) : He works boundary...great body control...great feet...goes deep...runs well...is strong. Jordy Clone, maybe.
uffda udfa (27-Aug) : Tell me he doesn't remind you of 87...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zPZNolFvPI
Zero2Cool (27-Aug) : Only thing that matters : 40 Yrd Dash: 4.54
uffda udfa (27-Aug) : Butler is 6'2 215...Hmmm, wonder what TT has in mind. Ha.
uffda udfa (27-Aug) : TT went out and got us Jordy's replacement...James Butler...not even a camp invite.
uffda udfa (27-Aug) : I knew what you were saying and I loved it! From a production standpoint it was worse than college radio. It had Aaron which made it worth
Zero2Cool (27-Aug) : I wouldn't know good radio if it sat on my face, but I know what I find informational and worthwhile. Tuesday with Aaron, was both.
Zero2Cool (27-Aug) : I am saying my zero experience in radio > your whatever years. :D Bahahahahah
uffda udfa (27-Aug) : Ha! Yeah, I only was involved in making good radio for 8 years. Don't know a thing.
Zero2Cool (27-Aug) : Yeah, I'm not surprised I know good radio better than you. Not a big deal, you have your strengths, radio isn't one.
uffda udfa (27-Aug) : We have very different tastes. I worked in radio for many years. Thought the show was so much worse than it needed to be.
Zero2Cool (27-Aug) : NFL Pick'em v2.0 is here!
Zero2Cool (26-Aug) : Wilde was great choice and if not for Jason's rapport with Aaron, never would have happened.
uffda udfa (26-Aug) : I never caught it live...listened to podcast a few times. Wilde was the wrong guy for that show.
Zero2Cool (26-Aug) : That was poorly worded, my mistake. I was regular, it was great peak into his life. Planned meetings around it lol
uffda udfa (26-Aug) : As for Tuesday's with Aaron I did listen, but I wasn't a regular.
Smokey (26-Aug) : Anyone seen Polargrizzz lately, he's AWOL !
Zero2Cool (26-Aug) : If you listened to them, Aaron urged them to go past the 10 minutes. Jason would be an idiot to cut it off.
uffda udfa (26-Aug) : The contract stated 10 minutes but the show always went longer. Sounds like 540 took advantage and perhaps he got sick of it.
uffda udfa (26-Aug) : As for Aaron's radio show, sounds like he just didn't want to do it and they took too much of his time. Was only supposed to be 10 minutes.
Smokey (26-Aug) : Don't worry, be WR happy !
Zero2Cool (26-Aug) : WR!!
uffda udfa (25-Aug) : LeRoy Butler and Finley want TT to add a WR. Silverstein wrote a piece on it, including Rison mention. Let's get this!
uffda udfa (25-Aug) : The WHY is the big story, but that hasn't come out yet.
Zero2Cool (25-Aug) : noooooooooooooooooooo!
Zero2Cool (25-Aug) : Aaron is done? Why????
uffda udfa (25-Aug) : If you liked "Tuesday's with Aaron" he's not doing it this year. He's done.
Zero2Cool (23-Aug) : Tolzien being evaluated for concussion. What?
hardrocker950 (23-Aug) : wow... what a joke
dhazer (23-Aug) : Cheese heads are everywhere donot be sureprised ifor we are louder
Zero2Cool (23-Aug) : And you're wearing a Ben jersey... sad!
