Looks like Aaron Rodgers will be out multiple weeks. Do you think the Packers should call Brett Favre?

IF Rodgers is out for a significant amount of time, he or Flynn IMO are the best options. Both have lots of exp in the system already.

Outside of them, Coleman, VY, may also be able to pick up and not be totally green.

The rest is a total crap-shoot as far as I know.

Elbow injury, doesn't have an arm anymore.

Would you really want Favre to return only to throw an INT at a critical moment?

I suppose his return would help mend fences quickly if he didn't play like crap.

Can they trust Favre to not purposely implode this team out of spite?

Otherwise, work out Flynn. Flynn would have to pass through waivers. You KNOW the Queens or Bares would put in claims just to prevent us getting him.

Matt Flynn cut by a team that has started 2 undrafted QBs (one a rookie) this year and has 2 QBs injured. Also cut by the Raiders in favor of another undrafted rookie. Flynn is shot and the Packers aren't going to and shouldn't sign him. Anybody who considers Favre and isn't joking, seriously just go away.

Flynn is interesting. We saw what he did when he played in GB. So much of a QB being success is being on the same page with the offense and coach. Not all QBs can be a success in all offenses. But some can be successful in specific offenses.

If you haven't watched any of Flynns snaps this year it's not the same guy as when he played in GB. He cannot throw the ball. I don't see any way the GB coaches could watch him play and want to sign him.

I hope Rodgers doesn't miss a game, but seeing Brett Favre take the keys for a month and hand it back to a healthy Rodgers would be a storybook ending. He can end his career on Thanksgiving Day against Detroit and stick around as the backup, as the team makes one more push for a Super Bowl that wouldn't of been possible without him. This is a Hollywood movie in the makings. Jake Gyllenhall stars as Aaron Rodgers. I'm not sure who'd they cast as Brett Favre, though. Ted Thompson's also vital to the story. Think

He never had a very good arm while in GB either. But knowing the offense is the most important thing IMO.

He doesn't just not have a very good arm though he straight can't throw. He needs to take the year off and get whatever is wrong with him fixed up. Either way he's useless to GB.

Lions and Bears are behind the Packers in waiver selection. Lions are division leaders and Bears have head to head over Packers. Vikings on the other hand ...

That's bad because this would be the greatest benefit Flynn could have to the Packers. For one of these teams to think the Packers are going to sign him so they grab him and take up a roster spot. If Flynn couldn't make it in Oakland (granted they decided Pryor was their future and they decided to run with him...literally) or Buffalo with their QB of the future out for a while, he must not have anything left.

As far as Favre goes my initial responses were no and hell no and while I stand with the no vote I have backed off a bit on the hell no.

The way I see it if the guy they throw in there isn't going to perform any better than Wallace did why not make the mending of the fences official and go out in a grand style. Has Favre actually signed his retirement papers (again) yet. If not I see a 1 day contract coming in the future anyway so this would trump all of them. Aside from the laughingstock the Packers would become for the circus stunt move what could possibly be the harm. Everyone seems to be writing us off anyway and it would certainly put the focus back on Green Bay for a few games. Hell CBS might even put us back on Sunday night. So why the hell not.
I respect your right to have your opinion but that doesn't mean I agree with it or respect you for having it.

Probably some ESPN hack seizing his opportunity to get some attention. I'm sure his "sources" will soon confirm that Favre and GB are talking contract only for Favre to back out and stay retired at the last moment. Quality made up drama to get through the next couple weeks with.

btw, those of you who somehow don't know who Howard Balzer is, he has a Pro Football Hall of Fame vote. Howard Balzer is a long-time sportscaster who started his career at ESPN. He was one of the first anchors. He started in 1981. He worked for Pro Football Weekly, where he wrote articles about the NFL

Bus debunks this possibility.
