So I may be a little slow - but why are we playing Tolzien when we just signed flynn? ... Isnt the dude better then tolzien? ... seriously? ... I still remember his patriot and detroit performance and it wasnt 'that bad' ...
I would really like some wins under the belt instead of giving a backup QB (tolzien) some playing time.
So whats the thought - we may keep tolzien past this year so we play him? - this isnt the preseason - we need wins.

Possibly because Flynn's arm really is messed up. Possibly because Tolzien knows the system better at this point.
Either way, we can win with Tolzien.

I thought Tolzien did a hell of a job considering he was calling plays he never had a chance to even run in practice last week.
Now with a week's work he will probably be able to check down on at least some plays and go to a second or third receiver. Plus there is no doubt McCarthy had no choice with someone that had very few reps but to shrink the playbook.
It would be a mistake not to give him most the reps this week and let him run with it. As the game went on I started thinking how they finally found a QB not named Rodgers that makes the throws and shows he has the level of confidence the position requires.
I'll take what I saw last week and be happy over going on the fly with Flynn thinking he could just go out there and reproduce what he did over two years ago and done nothing since.

Flynn has lost his job this year to 3 different UDFA QBs plus he looked like crap in the game he actually got to play. I wouldn't be betting so heavily that he's the same Matt Flynn as a couple years ago.

Tolzien deserves his shot.
If he stinks up the joint, Flynn will get a chance to play.
