FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Ty Law is back with the New York Jets -- just in time to play against the New England Patriots.
Just in time
Not that Thursday night's New York-New England clash needed any extra juice, but it just got some, writes Adam Schefter. Ty Law is expected to be ready for the matchup. More ...

The five-time Pro Bowl cornerback agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Jets on Monday after sitting out the first 10 weeks of the season as a free agent, reports NFL Network's Adam Schefter.

The 34-year-old Law, who has 52 career interceptions, played for the Jets in 2005 before spending the last two seasons with Kansas City. He garnered interest from New York and New England, where he played the first 10 years of his NFL career.

Law jumps back into one of the league's biggest rivalries as the Jets play at New England on Thursday night, with the winner taking sole possession of first place in the AFC East.

"This is going to be different playing Thursday night against the Patriots, matching up against my former team and the players I'm used to practicing against," Law told Schefter. "I know they're going to throw at me, but I welcome the challenge."

Law and Jets coach Eric Mangini are very familiar with each other, dating to Mangini's five seasons as New England's defensive backs coach.

Law said that the Jets plan to use him at both cornerback and safety. Cornerback Darrelle Revis, who has started every game in his first two NFL seasons, looked up to Law while growing up in the same hometown of Aliquippa, Pa., and even wears Law's No. 24.

"That's my little boy," Law told Schefter. "I've watched him grow up and to be able to help him now, it'll be a good deal."

Law, no longer the shutdown corner he once was, also might play opposite Revis at times. Rookie Dwight Lowery has started all nine games, but has looked shaky recently.

The Jets will have to make a corresponding roster move to make room for Law. Along with Revis, Lowery and now Law, New York also has cornerbacks Justin Miller, Hank Poteat, David Barrett and Ahmad Carroll, along with two kickers in Jay Feely and Mike Nugent.

Law, a first-round pick out of Michigan by the Patriots in 1995, helped New England to three Super Bowl titles. He signed with the Jets in 2005 after being released by the Patriots, had a career-high 10 interceptions and was voted to the Pro Bowl.

He was released by the Jets after that season and followed coach Herm Edwards to Kansas City, where he played two years before being cut in the offseason.

gbguy20 (1h) : when is 12 resigning
Nonstopdrivel (3h) : I have to say I like it, even if it means I have to put up with occasional ads for Maseratis. 😂
Nonstopdrivel (3h) : Interestingly, since I blocked third-party cookies, ads I see tend to relate to the content of the page instead of my most recent Amazon searches.
TheKanataThrilla (11h) : Mathieu to Texans? I thought he wanted to go to a play that was all about winning football games?
hardrocker950 (14h) : Bears already matched
Zero2Cool (16h) : Bears will certainly match it though. Maybe restructure after year one?
Zero2Cool (16h) : but bears got lots of money, didn't think anyone would make the offer
Zero2Cool (16h) : good question
Nonstopdrivel (16h) : Can another team come and big even higher, or is it a one-off thing?
Zero2Cool (17h) : Bears WILL match the Kyle Fuller offer, but still, good move.
Zero2Cool (17h) : @RapSheet Source: The #Raiders are expected to sign #Colts FA CB Rashaan Melvin. More defensive talent adde
Zero2Cool (17h) : Packers sign Bears CB Kyle Fuller to offer sheet

Zero2Cool (18h) : Eagles are releasing DL Vinny Curry
Zero2Cool (19h) : CB Bashaud Breeland cut his foot in a non-football injury and it got infected, source said. He is now a few months away from being able to pass a physical.
Zero2Cool (19h) : @massey_evan Can confirm that the #Packers have been in touch with Tyrann Mathieu.
hardrocker950 (19h) : Good CBs don't come around every day... It shouldn't be a surprise that they get paid well.
DarkaneRules (22h) : These CB contracts were out of control. Maybe there's value in the later rounds of FA
DarkaneRules (23h) : pack runs a tight ship
Cheesey (23h) : Jennings didn’t act like a jerk when he was here. After he left he did.

Smokey (16-Mar) : OK--> lol
Zero2Cool (16-Mar) : ww = we ? I'm not sure.
Smokey (16-Mar) : Who is ww ?
gbguy20 (16-Mar) : the way greg has acted since he left i can't believe ww ever liked him
Cheesey (15-Mar) : Jordy got his big payday. And went to the team where players go to die.
Cheesey (15-Mar) : Jennings must still think he’s the GREATEST! (That’s why he’s no longer wanted as a player)
gbguy20 (15-Mar) : greg is an idiot
Nonstopdrivel (15-Mar) : With Derek Carr tossing him the rock. That will be interesting to watch.
Zero2Cool (15-Mar) : Jordy Nelson to the @RAIDERS on a Two-Year Deal....15M, 13M Guaranteed
Smokey (15-Mar) : Greg Jennings was on both Rich Eisen's and Colin Cowherd's radio programs trashing all his former teams, again.
Nonstopdrivel (15-Mar) : Doesn't that technically mean he could retire before Week 1 and walk away with all that money anyway?
Nonstopdrivel (15-Mar) : Kirk Cousin's $84 million contract is fully guaranteed. Ludicrous.
