No.. there should be some type of rotating schedule for the holiday games.. great national exposure chance for clubs..

That Lions pact from years ago.. it should be scrapped.

Yes, they're so bad they should get a treat.
#24 Posted : Wednesday, November 26, 2008 5:18:44 PM(UTC)
HELL NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
#25 Posted : Wednesday, November 26, 2008 8:17:16 PM(UTC)
I seem to be one of just two people that voted yes.

I love tradition and history, that's one of the things that makes the NFL so great. Soccer is one mess if you look at things like that.

And what's more fun that laughing at the Lions while having a stuffed turkey(?). Titans - Spartans, I'd almost feel bad for them. I actually hope Culpepper has a huge game, he deserves it.
#26 Posted : Wednesday, November 26, 2008 9:19:11 PM(UTC)
They deserve it when they earn it.

And judging by their play the past, oh.. FOREVER, they don't deserve/earn it.

Give it to another team. Just not the Raiders, Cardinals, or any other consistent failure teams.
#27 Posted : Wednesday, November 26, 2008 9:22:45 PM(UTC)
I vote no, they are hardly an NFL caliber team anymore.
I would like to see a rotating schedule between AFC and NFC teams.
#28 Posted : Wednesday, November 26, 2008 9:28:57 PM(UTC)
I would like a consistent schedule of the Packers playing on Thanksgiving :)
#29 Posted : Wednesday, November 26, 2008 10:02:32 PM(UTC)
I was going to vote yes, but I realised that I personally don't give a damn about tradition generally, and having two playoff calibre teams play will generate greater interest in the NFL. So I voted no.
#30 Posted : Thursday, November 27, 2008 3:36:02 AM(UTC)
I voted yes, because they come out with some surprises like a win,ya never know they could win .After all their only on their 3rd q.b and they do have talent they jsut keep leaving it in the locker room.
#31 Posted : Thursday, November 27, 2008 11:48:46 AM(UTC)
i'm not sure i'd say they "deserve" it but it's a tradition.

Here is a good article discussing this subject. And i couldn't agree more. Get this crap off my tv.

Lions on Thanksgiving is one turkey too many

Money that's flooded into sports has usually overwhelmed traditions.

So it's doubly amazing that the sports world's Daddy Warbucks the NFL clings to a Depression Era invention that makes no 21st-century sense: playing Thanksgiving Day games in Detroit and, later, in Dallas leaving fans with the less-than-festive Tennessee (10-1) vs. Detroit (0-11) on Thursday.

The Lions, despite not having a winning season since 2000, actually draw pretty well. In this century, the team's Thanksgiving games have averaged 11.9% of U.S. households. The Cowboys, despite being America's Soap Opera and getting a later (and thus better) time slot, aren't doing much better averaging 12.1%. That suggests fans are hungry for any Thanksgiving Day NFL action imagine if the NFL rotated game sites to schedule something tasty.

Howard Katz, NFL senior vice president/broadcasting, suggests "one thing people have forgotten is how we got this. Lots of clubs felt it was hard to sell a game on Thanksgiving, that it might conflict with other local traditions or it would be hard to get municipal services. But more clubs have expressed interest and there may be a reason to re-examine it."

Well, yes, given that this quaint anomaly has somehow survived in a media-savvy machine whose annual TV revenues $3.7 billion are about the size of Fiji's GDP. The NFL manages to give NBC prime-time flex-scheduling despite a complicated formula mandated that neither Fox nor CBS will give up more than 23 Sunday games each season for the NFL's 42 prime-time slots. And next week, the league tests 3-D TV game coverage "a glimpse into our future," says Katz in hopes of making a 3-D theatrical movie of the 2010 Super Bowl.

So why the stale Turkey Day menu?

No way. I'd rather see a competitive game on Thanksgiving. If it involves the Lions, it's not really going to be competitive. As I write this, Lions are losing 35-3 at the 2 minute warning in the 2nd quarter. lmao.
#34 Posted : Thursday, November 27, 2008 9:37:37 PM(UTC)
They don't deserve it but at least the fans will have something to enjoy their season for lol ... give it to them let the fans enjoy something.

DarkaneRules (6h) : Whatever happens, we've got to get Josh move near the LOS where he belongs.
TheKanataThrilla (14h) : Would we consider trying Rollins a S?
gbguy20 (14h) : so what's the deal then, are we to expect to see josh Jones in Morgan Burnetts spot this season? i guess I can't say I'm opposed to the idea.
Smokey (20h) : BG is in no hurry to anounce a new Rodgers deal. Smart !
gbguy20 (20h) : When is Rodgers signing that extension that was supposedly only awaiting Kirk? Typing on a phone makes things tough.
Nonstopdrivel (22h) : That's what I was thinking: I wasn't aware that he was quitting.
Zero2Cool (17-Mar) : Hopefully not for a long time. We need him.
gbguy20 (17-Mar) : when is 12 resigning
Nonstopdrivel (17-Mar) : I have to say I like it, even if it means I have to put up with occasional ads for Maseratis. 😂
Nonstopdrivel (17-Mar) : Interestingly, since I blocked third-party cookies, ads I see tend to relate to the content of the page instead of my most recent Amazon searches.
TheKanataThrilla (17-Mar) : Mathieu to Texans? I thought he wanted to go to a play that was all about winning football games?
hardrocker950 (17-Mar) : Bears already matched
Zero2Cool (16-Mar) : Bears will certainly match it though. Maybe restructure after year one?
Zero2Cool (16-Mar) : but bears got lots of money, didn't think anyone would make the offer
Zero2Cool (16-Mar) : good question
Nonstopdrivel (16-Mar) : Can another team come and big even higher, or is it a one-off thing?
Zero2Cool (16-Mar) : Bears WILL match the Kyle Fuller offer, but still, good move.
Zero2Cool (16-Mar) : @RapSheet Source: The #Raiders are expected to sign #Colts FA CB Rashaan Melvin. More defensive talent adde
Zero2Cool (16-Mar) : Packers sign Bears CB Kyle Fuller to offer sheet
Zero2Cool (16-Mar) : Packers have signed TE @TheJimmyGraham. Graham will wear No. 80 for the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Mar) : Vikings are finalizing a 1-year deal with Sheldon Richardson,
Nonstopdrivel (16-Mar) : Beast, my five-year-old wants to know that you're the best.
Zero2Cool (16-Mar) : Eagles are releasing DL Vinny Curry
Zero2Cool (16-Mar) : CB Bashaud Breeland cut his foot in a non-football injury and it got infected, source said. He is now a few months away from being able to pass a physical.
Zero2Cool (16-Mar) : @massey_evan Can confirm that the #Packers have been in touch with Tyrann Mathieu.
hardrocker950 (16-Mar) : Good CBs don't come around every day... It shouldn't be a surprise that they get paid well.
DarkaneRules (16-Mar) : These CB contracts were out of control. Maybe there's value in the later rounds of FA
DarkaneRules (16-Mar) : pack runs a tight ship
Cheesey (16-Mar) : Jennings didn’t act like a jerk when he was here. After he left he did.
Zero2Cool (16-Mar) : We should bring S Eric Reid, played some LB and is just 26.
Smokey (16-Mar) : OK--> lol
Zero2Cool (16-Mar) : ww = we ? I'm not sure.
Smokey (16-Mar) : Who is ww ?
gbguy20 (16-Mar) : the way greg has acted since he left i can't believe ww ever liked him
