2 series.

1\4 passing.

4 yards.

He also got DRILLED by a defender on a throw. Overall he didn't look good at all.

At first I was happy about it, then I got sad. He's embarrassing himself. I feel kinda bad.

Tarvaris is in now.

I just wanted to see the spectacle. Good or bad I didn't think his performance would mean anything after being with the team for three days.

The Viking's announcers were saying the bad throws were 'nothing to worry about'. Because they were 'veteran throws'. Whether the WR is supposed to wain over or not, it's the QB's job to make the ball catchable for the WR.

I think Favre was playing it safe with his arm too. The balls weren't coming out of the cannon at a high velocity at all.

Favre could have punched a kitty in the face and the announcers would have made excuses. That one announcer wanted to jump Brett's bones! lol!

I think Favre wanted to come back all along but held out signing for more money. Why? He needed the money to bribe the announcers to not talk shit about him.

Tavaris looked good and sustained a nice AP oriented drive capped off with a 13 yard strike for 7. The Vikings defense gave up an early score to Cassel but forced and recovered two fumbles.

What bugs me is the announcers and those fans who spent the last 15 years telling us how terrible/risky/thoughtless/inconsistent are now tripping over their boners gushing about how amazing Brett is.

Tarvaris is playing his butt off, yet all they can talk about is Favre. I expected it, but still. if the backup is outplaying the starter, say so. call it like you see it.

Unfortunately that's how it is.

Favre wasn't sharp, but come on, he's only had a few practices. His fault? Absolutely, but I don't think anyone can begrudge him to be a little rusty having not done something for several months and play at a professional level.

Tavaris has a point to prove and he's out there almost lights out, despite a few boneheaded plays (seriously, 5 yards beyond the line of scrimmage?). Good for him, maybe this will spur him to finally become a solid QB.

The main thing that stood out to me was a complete lack of chemistry between Favre and the receivers. He didn't know if they were going to keep going or stop in the zone. They didn't know where he was going to throw it.

I don't put much stock into what the media thinks. Playing with high schoolers is not the same as playing with NFL caliber players. You can't expect to improve in professional baseball playing with plastic bats and wiffle balls. This game is a scratch for Brett, next week we should have a better indication whether Brett's getting good mpg or not on that body and mind of his.

of course. I mean, he didn't look good. didn't look awful either. he looked like a guy who joined the team three days ago. but the announcers, blaming his poor performance on everything but Favre. get real. he'll get much better. he's only been on teh team for a few days for cryin' out loud. don't make excuses for him. you're better than that... maybe you're not.

I don't mean to pee in anyone's cheerios or anything, but -- you all realize this is a preseason game? Making any sort of long term prognostication based on tonight's game is ill advised.

Sure, Favre didn't look spectacular -- but find me a preseason game where he lit it up. Even in his prime his preseason performances were usually lackluster.

Basically, I'm all about being excited that the Queens' offense sputters a bit, but I wouldn't put much stock into it just yet.
William Henderson didn't have to run people over. His preferred method was levitation.

I don't think your intuition is far off. I'm simply arguing that using tonight's game as a litmus test is probably premature.

Trust me, I'll be the president of the "Favre shouldn't be doing this anymore" fan club. But it's too early to tell.

It wasn't unexpected for Favre to look shaky tonight.

Well, combine his last half of his Jets season.
His offseason comments about not being able to make it through another football season.
Surgery.
Less than 3 days of camp.
Poor Vikings WR's... err well they did okay for T Jack.
