i find it hilarious that all the vikings still insist the saints were taking "cheap shots" on favre all game, or that there were "dirty hits" on him.

come on now

RedSox... in any talks that revolve around Brett in Packer/Viking nations more so than not, the talks are dripping with emotion instead of reason.

Once you get to the point where you understand that and accept it as an immovable force.. you can state your opinion on the matter from a neutral point and understand that some (both side, pro or anti Favre) are going to take your opinion and either ignore it or twist it into their angle.

Wise men, when in doubt whether to speak or to keep quiet, give themselves the benefit of the doubt, and remain silent. - Napolean Hill

It is a battle than cannot be won.

Oh and the Viking fans that are wishing it upon themselves another year of Favre and hoping for the same success..

When you are winning a war almost everything that happens can be claimed to be right and wise. - Winston Churchill.

Favre had a remarkable year.. expecting a repeat without the wheels coming off earlier isn't a healthy wager.

Good post, nice quotes too. I've always loved the wise men one.

Though giving the reigns to T-Jack isn't a healthy wager either. I think the Packers are better off if Favre retires as the Vikings are not as good.

Off Topic: But I think the NFL really takes a hit if Favre retires. Almost everyone (even if they say otherwise) watches Favre when he's on. I think the Saints game was the highest rated non-SB program since the Seinfeld finale. That is saying a lot.

Plus:

"The NFL's highest-profile team and highest-profile quarterback combined to give FOX big numbers on Sunday.

The Vikings' blowout win over the Cowboys drew a stellar 23.9 overnight rating on FOX Sunday afternoon, up 14% from Eagles/Giants on FOX last year (20.9/41), up 13% from Chargers/Colts on CBS in '08 (21.2/42), and up 13% from Seahawks/Bears on FOX in '07 (21.1/41).

The 23.9 overnight is the highest for the early Sunday Divisional Round game since 1996, when Cowboys/Eagles drew a 26.0. The high point from '97 to '09 was a 22.6 for Steelers/Patriots in '97.

Cowboys/Vikings drew the highest overnight of the four NFL Divisional Round games, topping the Jets/Chargers late Sunday game on CBS."

Plus the Vikings/Packers game being the highest rated ESPN program ever. Plus the Vikings/Packers II being hte highest rated Fox regular season game this year I think.

Maybe its all a concidence but if I was Fox or ESPN, I'd offer to pay Favre's salary this year, lol.

Actually never mind! The NFL doesn't need Favre, its the ultimate media machine. Its actually unreal how much a sports giant the NFL is. Check this:

The 46.4 overnight rating is the highest for the Super Bowl since Giants/Broncos in '87 (47.8/68).

The worst part.. is the damn freaking flyers about the office dress code keep popping up around the office.. I got zinged on that one..

Off topic but worth passing on...

Props to the Purple Gnome.. +1... BTW.. both the hat and jersey found a comfortable home at a Children's hospital in Minneapolis.. the gifts were delivered with a donation name of Vikesrule and an explanation of how the jersey's made the trek to their hands... wager, payment and all. I don't know the reaction from the kids that got the gifts.. but I know when I talked to the two nurses that were going to handle the gifts with care.. they got a laugh out of it.. we didn't go through the normal donation channels because I wanted to make sure that the two items got into the hands of the children directly..

Ha... got the little gnome before he hit delete. ;)

Seeing him sweep the packers means more to me than one superbowl game.

The juxtaposition of these words with your green-and-gold sig annoys the piss out of me.

"The Rage of Bereavement"? You do realize I was excited they drafted Aaron Rodgers and was glad to see Favre go, right?

Actually, now that I think of it.......the Packers really lost that game because of Ted Thompson. I blame him for drafting Rodgers in the first place. Had he kept Favre, picked up randy moss at garage sale pricing and made a couple other additions, we may have a super bowl or 2 right now. That loss is squarely on the shoulders of Ted Thompson. Do you disagree?

Uhhm, the Packers gave up 51 points to the Cardinals. We all know this, yea yea yea whatever. Bottom line, the Packers lost to the Cardinals because of Aaron Rodgers. His horrible protection of the ball, holding on to it for too long and not protecting it is why we lost. I put the loss squarely on him. Do you disagree?

I'm really confused about this Gravedigga. Are you implying "we" as you are actually a Packer fan or are you saying "we" as in the Packers fans?

Zero2Cool (1h) : Maybe this little shout has no value if people gonna use it instead of the forum.
Zero2Cool (1h) : He's not writing. He's shouting, and its making the shout kind of without point with the clutter.
buckeyepackfan (5h) : Just like last year at 4-6. The guy is just too funny!
buckeyepackfan (5h) : GOOD news Uffda is already all but writing The Packers off for 2017!
uffda udfa (10h) : Masturbation talk from Barfan? Nothing could make me COME back, quicker.
wpr (11h) : Maybe the shout box needs to take a timeout. People keep using it. ;)
Zero2Cool (11h) : Why do this is in shout? So frustrating. Post in forums. Thanks

uffda udfa (13h) : Now, a guy they really liked and have groomed for 3 years is the guy. Tons of toys on O. Let's see how it runs with a great coach, now.
uffda udfa (13h) : The Flynn Patriots game has been used to say that he is. Seneca and Scott showed otherwise.
uffda udfa (13h) : Hundley is going to settle the debate once and for all in whether Mike McCarthy is a great coach, or not.
uffda udfa (13h) : Doesn't speak well to the talent acquired by the org, does it? Easy to say talent is great until Rodgers is gone and you have to see it wit
Porforis (14h) : Could Sam Bradford come into the Packers and post a winning record from here on out? Are there any non-starters in the NFL that could?
Zero2Cool (14h) : Teddy is replaceable. Aaron is not. Vikings have a really good defense. We do not. Understand??
Zero2Cool (14h) : You are wise enough to know the difference. Right?
uffda udfa (15h) : Here's one for you, Z. Vikes lose Teddy B. and go out and aggressively get Bradford. Packers lose 12 and go out and get a UDFA.
uffda udfa (15h) : :) Evans had a pre-draft visit with Packers.
Zero2Cool (15h) : Put it in a topic. My lord why so difficult lol

uffda udfa (16-Oct) : @ProFootballDoc says Rodgers could return Week 14 at earliest, and surgery speeds up return timeline.
Zero2Cool (16-Oct) : McCarthy dropped a "bullshit" on packers.com stream. No delay apparently lol
Zero2Cool (16-Oct) : @AaronNagler One thing is crystal clear: McCarthy is pissed at the way his team played yesterday.
Smokey (16-Oct) : 2017 Packers are done , time to focus on the 2018 NFL Draft .
Zero2Cool (16-Oct) : Mike McCarthy says Aaron Rodgers "suffered a significant injury". Will require surgery. Potentially season could be over.
