I think Brett plays for sure this year and retires. I don't see him playing in 2011. |

I think alot depends on what happens this year. If he has a winning year, he will be with the Queens in 2011. If he crashes and burns,....................he will be the Detroit Lions starting qb in 2011. LOL! |

I can't blame him for wanting attention. problem is, when he finally DOES retire, it's gonna be a HUGE shock to him, as all his "friends" (and reporters) run off to the next "big story". I think Favre will retire for real in 2 or 3 years when Peyton Manning is on the decline and thinking retirement. Yep. I has said for a few years that he is motivated by what Manning does. He doesn't want to lose any of his records so soon. Of course HE says that he is not motivated by records at all. Yeah right. ::roll: Uh Huh. Plus he makes like 30 - 40 million with his endoresements per year. Who the hell in their right mind would turn that down to do something they love? |

Exactly my thoughts. He has to put his records out of Manning's reach. By the way, there were 2 NFL players who didn't care so much about the records - Walter Payton and Barry Sanders. I think pretty much everyone else did. Marino's so bummed his records were lost he got fat. |
My man Donald Driver (thanks to Pack93z for the pic) 2010 will be seen as the beginning of the new Packers dynasty. |

Brett told Sports Illustrated that he did care about the records. He said something about what ones meant the most to him. Tops was the QB consecutive streak. He did say they don't mean anything to him if he doesn't win a championship though.
The point is ... Brett does like the records and they do mean something to him, he's admitted it. |

Yeah.. but it takes more than getting / keepin records to motivate someone to play another year at the age of 41. There are a ton of other factors that decide one's actions. Are the records a factor? Of course. But records alone will not motivate ANYONE to come back to the game. |
Thanks to TheViking88 for the sig!! |

I guess we are discussing his love of records because for YEARS he denied (lied) about caring about his records. I personally don't mind it, as long as you man up and admit it. I use to laugh at Pete Rose. He could tell you every one of his stats off the top of his head. If he went 2-4 in a game, he could tell you what his new batting avg was. And where is was in relationship to the other hitting leaders. But it is just annoying to see a guy look at the camera and say "I am not motivated by records" and then go out and play the game even it is not in the best interest of the team to do so. |
One does not simply walk into Mordor. |
