Haha, I was watching this show on TSN, Off the Record and Chmura was on. When he first heard the news about the retirement, he thought that Favre was sticking it to the Vikings by waiting this long to get back in the good graces of the Packers fans. So that the Vikings are in limbo.
May be he also played that well last year to raise Vikings fans expectations only to purposely throw a heart-breaking INT to crush Vikings fans.
Sweet! He's the Ultimate Loyal Packer!

Coming from a man who deserves his place in the Packers Hall of Fame, that's hilarious!

I have been saying that since NO. This off season supports the theory. The only difference in my aluminum hat theory is, Ted Thompson and Favre have planned this from '07. It was a concerted effort to get the Vikings to put all their hopes and dreams in one basket so Favre could throw it in the fireplace at the last second. Then he hangs around so Chilly can't find a replacement for him because they don't want to want to "force him out". They can't ask him for a commitment because that would be "pressuring him". Then he would have no choice but to go to the Bears so he could "stick it" to the VIkings by calling the Packers to decode Chilly's playbook. This way, the Vikings are crippled for years by not having a young developing QB they passed on to keep Favre happy. Then they move to LA and officially change their names to the Hollywood Queens and Jared Allen moves to Beverly Hills and becomes the Crazy Beverly Hillbilly.

As funny as that all is, I still find it a slap in the face to Packers fans that we had to witness Brett pretty much go through his best season (statistically speaking) while sweeping us along the way.

It irks me too that he only decided to grow up and protect the ball after he joined the Vikings. To be fair, it probably wasn't a conscious decision on his part, but it sometimes feels like it was.

Since I am on a roll with aluminum hat theories.
Favre was taught how to take care of the ball by one of the best, Holmgren. He didn't feel like doing what he was told and fought the bit with MM. Sherman let him do what he wanted. So he knew very well what he was supposed to do. When he went to MN, he decided that sticking it to the Packers was more important that doing it his way. So, he started doing all the things that Mike McCarthy and MH tried to make him do, because he knew that was how to win.
When Mike McCarthy replaced Shermie, Favre had his worst two seasons back to back. I don't think it was a coincidence that he "turned it around" in '07 so he could raise his stock. If he had a third straight crappy season, Chilly wouldn't be able to convince Zagnut that Favre wasn't washed up. So Favre worked out in the off season, participated in pre season and took care of the ball during the season. He had one of the best years of his career, coasted through his last game and threw away the game on his last throw. Then retired to force his free release. Because Ted Thompson had told him when he demanded a trade or a release in '06, that aint gonna happen, ever. Maybe not so coincidentally, that is also when Chilly and Beville showed up in MN.
Then he went on to commit lionsgate and crock gate.
The Irony is, Favre probably could have gotten cut or traded if he had a third straight year with a rating of 70 and turning the ball over 30 times. But he wouldn't be making 12 mil a year.
NO my name is not Ted and this is not my manifesto. I swear. Academics are bad...oops.

LOVE IT. When Favre is still in the great graces of those like Mark Chmura, it is evidence that Favre himself has turned into a piece. We all know why Favre is waiting. Twofold: 1) He doesn't want to do anything until two or three weeks into preseason, and 2) He gets a big Chmura from all this media attention.
We have known since 2006 that he was no longer in this only for the game, and that the attention has gone to his head. He loves this waiting around crap every single year. If he really was quitting, he could have said that the reports were true, and if he wasn't (and even if he still didn't want to play right away), he could have said that the reports were false, and he still could have been off the hook for a few weeks. When it all comes down to it, Favre is a primadonna, and loves the attention more than loyalty.

I'm almost tempted to send a link to this thread to Chmura himself. I imagine his lawyer would have a thing or two to say about it.
Seriously, people, have you ever heard of libel? Have you ever read about the penalties for libel? They aren't light.

Lol, that's hillarious. Would NEVER hold up in court. Plus, I will put up more of a fight then a drunk little kid, haha.
I'm sure that instead of taking me to court, he will probably just call me a playa hater or something like that.

After Mark's intelligence comments about Finley openly.. I think Mark's lawyers will let some random comments on a message board slide.
Mark is far from a rocket scientist himself by his own actions.

The thought is still amusing to contemplate though. Imagine all the free pub we'd get if we got dragged into a legal dispute over things said here. ;)
