Well, looks the Green bay Packers are set to see how many idiots that there are in Canada.

How many Canadians will be stupid enough to buy Packers stock

Canadian Packer backers just across the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Lake Superior who want to buy Green Bay Packers team ownership stock will now get their chance.

On Monday the team cleared Canadian regulatory requirements and is now selling shares. Each share costs $250. In the U.S., there’s also a $25 handling fee. In Canada, the charge is $35.

The shares pay no dividends and have virtually no re-sale value.

Well we've been bending over the Vikings to the tune of 5 in a row, so why not the Canucks. Afterall we are talking about the same group of Scandanavian folks are we not?

Green Bay Packers "stock" is nothing more that a tax.

Plain and simple folks, there is simply no other was to put it.

It is a tax!!!

Green Bay Packers "stock" is pretty much a tax on the stupid people.

I mean even the dumbasses in North Dakota exempted "Paupers and Idiots" from tax.

Even North Dakota did not tax the stupid (which explains why they never got any money)
..an annual poll tax of not more than one dollar and fifty cents on every male inhabitant of this state over twenty-one and under fifty years of age, except paupers, idiots...

I'm not sure who you're arguing with. I think even those who purchased the stock acknowledge it's lack of monetary value. However, I believe those who purchased the stocks did so for different reasons. I've seen a few people fly off the handle on this and I'm not understanding where it's coming from. It sounds more like jealousy since their team can't do the same thing to help finance stadium improvements.

It just seems petty to run ones mouth over something like this, primarily because no one is pounding their chest saying they own the Packers, they make the decisions, they are king shit, etc ... it's just an expensive souvenir that also helps them contribute to the Packers organization. I don't see any room to mock them.

I guess I lack creativity then ...

yep. I was just going to say I am sure VR and all his little viking buddies wish they didn't have to pay a REAL tax to built their new mausoleum to ineptitude. I am sure they are GREEN with jealousy over the issue. And will be every year for the next 30 years that they pay for it.

Hey VR, you jealous little bitch, I have a share of worthless Packer Stock in a frame hanging on my wall. I also have some terrible memories of wasting money going to that horrific pile of concrete you dumbasses call a stadium. I'll probably buy two more shares someday so I can will them to each of my children.

Completely hypothetical situation - would you spend $250 to keep the Vikings in MN? This is directed at our Viking fan friends here.

No, but I would give up $400 worth of booze on a bet. Big Grin

But we digress.....

Green Bay just pumped out another set of their fake stocks to pay for renovations of Lambeau Field.

Genius, if your them, you get to upgrade the stadium, and not pay for it.
Screwed, if you actually bought into this scheme.

The Packers are essentially printing money and don’t have to do anything for it.

How hard would you laugh if you got 250,000 people to send you $250 for nothing?

I'm not following your logic.

Packers sell stock so they can continue to exist as a sports team that is owned originally by the city of Green Bay but now also Packer fans from around the country. Why is this a bad thing?

Logic, you speak of logic my cheesehead amigo?...

I am not upset that your team can raise money in this ridiculous way. Just the fact that it is a shameless money grab sold as some sort of imaginary "ownership."

This is a basic scam selling souvenir pieces of paper at $250 a sheet under pretenses of stock ownership. With all the small print they list, it makes it a legal scam.

Speaking of small print....
"The NFL Rules prohibit conduct by shareholders of NFL member clubs that is detrimental to the NFL, including, among other things, publicly criticizing any NFL member club...the Commissioner has the authority to fine such shareholder in an amount not in excess of $500,000 and/or require such shareholder to sell his or her stock at $0.025 per share."

Guess next time that that dumbass from North Dakota (now a pseudo Packers owner) criticizes the Vikings...off goes the email to Roger Goodell!

For loyalty you might say...

We all saw Packer loyalty when it mattered the most. The great "loyal" fans of the Packers booing their 15-1 team off the field at halftime in your last playoff game against the Giants.

Now perhaps if Aaron Rodgers could just use that money to win a home playoff game.......

Who needs to criticize the Vikings. I swore off kicking puppies. It just has no appeal anymore.

This stock sale is not a tax on any sense of the word, since it is imposed without coercion. I have not and never will pay money for the piece of paper. It is the functional equivalent of a donation to the building fund, and as long as those who purchase it see it in that light, I have no problem with it.

I don't care who you are, that is some seriously funny shit right there.

Freakin' cheeseheads...bwaahaaa....Rolling On The Floor Laughing

Rumor also has it, that the Packers are going sell the fans some pieces of worthless paper certificates that say Aaron Rodgers Day -12/12/12 for $1,200 a piece.

Shouldn't that be $1,212.12 apiece?
