To that end,

I have never been so intrigued by a season since Rodgers took over. Honestly we have a lot working against us right now. To see us emerge from this good enough to win the NFC conference would be absolutely thrilling to watch!

I'll now say this - the Niners will NEVER win a SB with Alex Smith. It will be true. Mark it down.

The rushing stats REALLY stuck out for me. We had 35 yards or something like that. That is just unacceptable.

Well boys, here's how it was....is...and will play out.

Green Bay was smoked at home by San Francisco, in a game that showed that the Packers have many weaknesses and are one dimensional on offense…..again.
The Packers had problems running the ball, to the point that Aaron Rodgers led the team in rushing yards.

And the Packers defense, well...burned for 377 yards, 186 of them on the ground, giving up 5.8 yards per rush and forcing not a single interception or lost fumble.
Not to mention that Woodson, DJ Smith and Morgan Burnett all whiffed on tackling Frank Gore on a 23-yard touchdown.
Rushing for 112 yards on 16 carries with a touchdown, Frank Gore pretty much had his way with the Packers' defense.

In come the Bears who gave rookie Andrew Luck a warm welcome by chewing up the Colts 41-21.

The Bears are totally a different team this year. They showed why they reunited Brandon Marshall with Jay Cutler by connecting nine times for 119 yards and a TD.... and this success will continue Thursday night.
And Matt Forte...well...he is simply a beast, a complete back.

Chicago’s high powered defense will come to Lambeau, pressure Rodgers and pretty much shut down the Packers...with Rodgers spending a considerable amount of time in the horizonal position.

And with a Chicago offense that looks revitalized...this will be a high scoring game….for da Bears.

And me thinks that a few of da Bears defensive boys will give some “love” to Cedric Benson.

Bears by 17….book it.

Let's look at 2 teams - the Ravens who won the SB in 2000 and the Niners from last year.

The 2000 Ravens allowed 165 points. That's 10.3 points per game. That's absolutely ridiculous. One of the best Ds EVER.

The 2011 Niners allowed 229 points, which is still pretty freaking good. But Ravens 2000 D still smokes Niners 2011 D. Also keep in mind the Niners had a very weak division to play against.

Smith is not a great QB. He's not a good QB. He's a serviceable quarterback. But the weapons he has really overshadows that fact.

I agree with you.

But the Bears had... I can't even name their WRs.

The 49ers have Randy Moss, Mario Manningham, Michael Crabtree, Vernon Davis, Frank Gore, Kendall Hunter, Brandon Jacobs, and a shitload of other talented offensive players.

Smith is not a great QB. He's not a good QB. He's a serviceable quarterback. But the weapons he has really overshadows that fact.

Manningham is awesome as a #3 WR, but that's what he is and that's what he'll always be. So is Crabtree.

Vernon Davis is one of the best TEs in the game. Gore is one of the best well-rounded RBs in the game.

So yes, Davis and Gore are elite players.

Their OL however is really bad at pass protection. They're the opposite of us. Good at run blocking, bad at pass protection. Smith led the NFL last year in sacks. Yes, a lot of it is Smith's fault as Smith can read a blitz about as well as Lovie Smith understands how to run an offense.

So are they a complete team? No. Watch what happens when the Niners play a real team. Mark my words.

Moss too avoids contact. A physical CB could take him out of the game. Why we didn't have Woodson rough him up at the line, I have no idea. Yet another reason I'm scratching my head as why a simple fan gets this and our DC doesn't.
