I'd say it depends on matchups.

Do you have a play?

I see where you are coming from and yes, a team like the Packers probably would make better than 50% of their tries. Heck they may even make 83.33 percent of their tries over the course of the season if they went for it every time (I doubt it but they might) the thing is in some games 1 point doesn't really matter, in some games it does. It doesn't matter if you make 5 of 6 in games you win big if that one you fail to convert on costs you a close one. I don't have a problem if they try it more often but to simply say lets do it every time doesn't make any sense and it has nothing to do with being afraid to pour it on.

As far as McCarthy's comments, the only way he doesn't have an issue going for it every time is if he does go for it every time and we all know he won't so in reality, he does have an issue with going for it every time.

The big question is, how much over .500 are we going to be on 2 point conversions, and how consistently are we going to be over .500 from game to game?

We're not one of those teams whose kicker struggled with the new extra point deal.

If you are winning by three TDs it doesn't really matter if you make 83% of your attempts because you are probably going to win anyway. The close one I was referring to was a low scoring affair like I mentioned in my first reply. Score 2 TDs fail on 2 attempts an lose 13-12.

Another big question is how many times does your opponent go for 2? If you both are scoring at ill an he goes for 2, and is making it you might have to as well just to keep up.

I guess that comes down to the point about allowing the situation dictate rather than a blanket statement go for 2 every time. If it were that simple every coach would be doing it.
