We need an offensive line to be good.

He has failed to produce as a GM.

If he doesn't recognize the priority, he should be replaced.

That includes coaching. If Mike is married to this coaching staff, he is very subject to dismissal also.

The Green Bay Packers should be "known" for their o-line, if any team should.

This is the thing though, we're a Playoff team. Playing the laws of averages, chances are if we replaced TT, we'd get someone worse.

Yes, the OL needs to be upgraded quickly. No argument there whatsoever. But as a GM, he's "better than average."

I have more beef with Mike McCarthy not going for the throat when our enemies are bloody and wounded.

Let me tell all of you something.

We are one hell of a lot closer to being bad than good.

Inside out....Just kindly remember that...inside out...

Far from a Ted apologist speaking here, but is the OL talent his fault?

We have a Power O coach teaching the Zone Blocking Scheme who mind you only had a year of training under someone else to learn the system.

Has he failed to get OL that fit the ZBS scheme? I don't know.

I do know we have coach who can't coach ZBS trying to teach it.

The OL issues are part, OL Coach and OL players.

Get a coach who's familiar with the ZBS or ditch it.

I'd rather a big power offensive line rather than some athletic OL that tries to finesse things compared to other OL.

It just amazes me that TT, widely regarded amongst his peers based on comments I have read over the years, is still brutalized by fans. Is he perfect? Nope....which GM is??!?

Unlike so many of his peers who have appeased fans and their own ego by signng big name FAs in hope of the quick fix, and whose signings have often lead to horrible cap situations, Ted Thompson has this team poised to be HIGHLY competitive for years to come, and in good cap shape.

Were you by chance screaming for Haynesworth last year? Careful what you wish for......

He does need to address the LT and possibly LG this year in the draft, and hopefully sign Clifton and Tauscher for one more year. That said, we have Sitton (widely recognized as being on the cusp of becoming something special), Lang (who will probably be our RT of the future and who showed well for a youngster), Spitz (when healthy a very decent player) and Colledge (who has been very erratic, but some of it due to changes on either side of him). The core of a really good line is here with Wells included....just need to get that LT of the future in the draft....and possibly a LG later to compete.

Zero...agree whole heartedly. I think we are moving to a more power OL with guys like Sitton and Lang on the roster. Probably something of a hybrid Power/ZBS scheme.

I think it is very fair to hold this regime accountable for the inconsistent performance of the offensive lines they have put together in there time.

I still think we have an issue at the positional coach on this.. but in the end that accountability falls upon the head coach...

While I might not be so apt to shit can the whole works.. I would like to see some accountability held someplace for the 'schotty offensive lines we have trotted out there yearly.

Same thing happens every freaking year.. we start out pathetic.. then they come around and are up and down from there.. sooner or later we have to stick a boot up someones ass to get that portion of the team righted.. so far.. we haven't done much to rectify it..

Not a change in position coach... not adding quality free agents.. we continue to ride the noble two tackles that need solid understudies.. to date we haven't had that.. that falls on Thompson.

Not developing talent falls on the coaching staff.. maybe 1 out of what 8.. Sitton looks that part to date. Spitz, Colledge, Moll and some lower round picks and we can't develop a single one to be consistent on a weekly basis?... that speaks of piss poor coaching if you ask me.

Many things can be said in Thompson's defense.

"That he has put together a quality offensive line" is NOT one of them.

Now, sure, McCarthy and the "system" and the assistant coaches and the players all share responsibility for that failure of quality. But who hired McCarthy? Who hired the guy who chose those assistant coaches? Who acquired the players who can't execute the system of the coach he chose? Who determines who are the scouts and the personnel people who evaluate OL quality?

Now if you want to say Thompson on balance has been good, fine. If you want to say Thompson should be rated on more than his success or failure on the OL, fine.

But IMO foster's right. If the OL fails to perform the way a top OL should perform in 2010, Ted should be held accountable.

Because if the OL doesn't perform at a top level, this team will never be more than a bridesmaid teasing us with her low cut dress.

And that, IMO, is not good enough.

Foster's too damn polite. If the OL doesn't kick ass this year, Thompson should be gone.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
