Come on even Mike Vick was given another chance. What he did is nothing compared to what Vick did.

Yeah, I'm with Nonstop, too. So the kid diddled his sister. So what? They were the same age and it was consensual. I couldn't care less and frankly, neither should anyone else outside the immediate family.

The kid sounds like a player, and I'm sure he's comparatively mature for having had to deal with this. It'd be stupid NOT to bring him in.

If I was making the call I would say bring him in for a tryout. I think at this point however, the Packers have made it clear they don't want any part of him. I think this is because they pride themselves on being a family organization(You can make many jokes about this lol) and they don't want the stigma of having this guy on their team.

I wonder if it would do any good for the sister to speak out for him.

The more I read about this, yes it's (in my opinion) wrong, but I think he fully deserves a chance. We've had far worse brought into this league, far far worse. Leonard Little drove drunk, killed someone, played in the NFL. Donte Stallworth did something similar, and he's on an NFL roster now.

I agree that this kid needs to be in a small market team and I think Green Bay might be the best fit for him, not because we need Tackles, but because Green Bay is a small market.

Consentual and consequential sex are a fine line ... sometimes they're on in the same.

Kids make mistakes, this is bad but could have been much worse. I'm sure he has had to deal with many repercusions from this, both serious and humorous and all embarassing. If he is truely remorseful and has kept himself clean I no reason not to give the kid a second chance.

When a girl is 15 there is no consent.

Call it child molestation, statutory rape, sexual child abuse or whatever.

Sexually exploiting his younger sister displays such a lack of moral character and poor judgement that naturally he must register as a sex offender wherever he goes.

How can any of you want such a person around when talented players get cut every year?

Do you really want to hear "Packers import child molestor and registered sex offender to Green Bay"

How would the Packers handle him sharing a bicycle with a little girl? Would you dare leave a registered sex offender/child molestor/child rapist alone with kids seeking autographs?

How would it look if the caption for a newpaper photo says "Packer child molestor spending time alone with kids."

How the Packers' Liability Insurance carrier view such risks?

No sicko psycho statutory rapist, chid abusing, child molestor, weirdo registered sex offender is worth hiring PERIOD

If you can give a 15-year-old person life in jail (which has been done), they are old enough to decide whether they want to have sex or not.

Thus, your post is invalid.

An act reveals the actor's moral character at the time of the act. Okay, I buy that.

And acts have consequences. Make bad decisions, get bad consequences who are no one's responsibility but one's own. I buy that, too.

And people should be allowed to choose whose moral character they deem insufficient for personal association. I buy that as well.

However:
1. Can moral character not change with "lessons learned"?
2. How long does it take?
3. What should the consequences for a bad decision made at age 17? How long should they last?
4. Based on the answers to 1, 2, and 3, what does a person's refusal to "give a chance" say about the refuser's moral character?

Because of my personal conviction that the Packer problems on the OL require "no stone left unturned," I'm glad that I don't have to answer these questions in Mr. Washington's case because I fear I'd ignore them. But that said, I also think "sex offender registries" and such have an incredible power to encourage us to ignore these questions.

And, IMO, we don't ask these questions enough as it is.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
