Shields has shown he has great potential at gunner on punts and good potential at CB.

Bush is more ready NFL ready but doesn't seem to have a lot of potential, and he's usually in good position but QBs have throw right at him or right next to him with him in good coverage and he hasn't knocked it down and the WR got the ball.

I'll take the good potential guy over the looks good until the ball get near him guy (who also gets a lot of penalties).

Nether one can return so that shouldn't factor it other the coaches for keep putting one of them out there. That's on the coaches not the player, also there is a back WR who probably won't make the team that i read was very good at returns in college. I forget his name but if true I wonder why he hasn't been out there.

I'd say Bush is more valuable at this exact moment than Shields is as a CB. The question is, do you stick with Bush, where you know exactly what you're going to get, or cut him loose and bank on Shields improving significantly at CB? Just because someone's a rookie doesn't mean he's going to improve.

If Shields makes the roster, it's as a 5th CB at best. And that's if Harris starts in the PUP list. Shields has loads of potential, and probably won't be active for most gamedays. But I still think he's definitely worth keeping because of his potential.

I vote for keeping Shields. He has too much potential with too little coaching and experience at CB. Investing the time they have with Barbre and Giacomoni and not doing the same with Shields would make no sense to the point of stupidity. He has shown ability at CB and has a huge upside. If he can play corner who give a rats a$$ if he can return kicks, which might still come. He'll never make it through waivers much less the practice squad.

There was a young receiver who fielded a punt late in the game, and the announcers said he had done it in college. I forget who it was, though, and I don't want to start guessing. He fielded the ball well and he looked like he knew what he was doing, though it was not a long return, as I recall.

I could see him making another team's roster, but is it worth holding onto him in the chance that he develops? I'm not sure. He seems to be capable as a defensive back. Capable enough I suppose.

I'm thinking this guy is a wonderful athlete from what I've read, but he seems to have in music what's called "stage fright."

Maybe a year in the PS, and a little experience under his belt and he won't be so raw. Would love to have someone of this talent.

If not, it's not like it's a waste of a roster spot. If he pans out next year after spending a year on the PS, great.

I see more gain than loss here.

Keep Shields on the roster but keep him far far away from returning kicks. He just can't do it and it is hurting his name more than it is helping because the kid has some good looks as a DB.

Shields might of just gotten his spot. Or at least if he doesn't screw up in the next two games on STs he might of just earned his spot on the 53 man roster.

"Sam Shields has moved onto the No. 1 kickoff team. He replaces Jarrett Bush, who worked with the 2's. Underwood also on the 1's for D. Lee."

He has way too much potential to make it to PS. I think he had something like 5-6 offers before he came to GB.

The one thing that makes me think he should stay around is that he has instincts. He has a feel for the game. That is so very important.

Instincts are the reason Bishop is not a starter. He doesn't have any. That is why they can't trust him not to screw up. He has the physical skills and the attitude, but he lacks a feel for the game.
I want to go out like my Grandpa did. Peacefully in his sleep.
Not screaming in terror like his passengers.
