Remember that meeting with McCarthy and Brett that lasted about four hours and then another two the next day?

Sources that won't put their name to this (take that for what its worth) claim that on the last play of the game where Brett threw a poor pass and it was intercepted. It was an audible out of a run. The significance to this is that McCarthy specifically told Brett not to audible out in OT because they wanted to run the ball on the Giants.

Apparently after the INT McCarthy had a very disgusted look on his face and its believe it was because Brett did exactly what Mike McCarthy did not want him to do.

The part that Brett said he should just get over, but couldn't. Was that part that the coach wanted him to be more obedient and smarter with the ball? I wouldn't be surprised if it was. I've said time and again that I think it was Mike McCarthy that made the decision that led Brett out of town. This kind of adds fuel to that theory, if its true.

I'm also reminded of a sticking quote from Mike McCarthy about Aaron Rodgers "He's very coachable".

What do you know or think about this?

I think you've been listening to Sportsline and Chris Havel. :)

You know these unnamed sources sometimes don't exist and this is just spouting off talk. I don't doubt Havel is telling what he heard, but I doubt where he heard it from.

I do agree that McCarthy had say in letting Favre go. I also think had McCarthy wanted Favre in Green Bay, Favre would be in Green Bay. I think this talk that it was all Ted Thompson is ridiculous. It's funny McCarthy gets a free pass from Favre fans or a lot of them at least.

I think if this is true. McCarthy probably shouldn't of got into a shouting match with Favre as I heard yesterday on the radio. The game is over and the season is over and you got to keep your composure.

With that said, Favre should of listened to the coach. If he said run the ball, you run the ball.

I don't know if it's true or not.
If it is, i can understand why he wasn't wanted.
If you don't do what your boss tells you to do, thats surely a way to find yourself not employed there anymore.
I wish there was proof if this was what happened.
But how do you ever have proof, unless Mike McCarthy comes out and says it?
Otherwise it's once again, no more then speculation.

Well, BF was good at not listening to the coach and improvising most of his career, so I disagree with you always have to listen to the coach. I noticed in '07, BF called a lot of audibles and I'm sure a lot of them weren't what Mike McCarthy had planned. BF saw things on the field and exploited them for most of '07.

However, assuming this is true, this particular call blew up in his face. But this is starting to sound like Groundhog Day. A lot of people can't let go of that loss last year. I know, we were so close and it may take years to get that close again. But still. Have to let this one go and give some credit to the Giants. IMO, they earned it in '07.

Mike McCarthy is there. You see him all day. He looks like someone you knew.
Ted Thompson is distant. He works in an office and you don't see him when you're watching the Packers. He's easy to hate for that reason.

Packer fans have been spoiled. We were having non-losing seasons since '92 and suddenly in '05 we're 4-12. You gotta blame someone. It's easier to blame someone who is distant than someone who you see every Sunday.

I'm not agreeing with this sentiment, but trying to make some psychological sense of it.

Gary Ellerson said something almost similar on wssp a while back

just recalled he said that part of the meeting was bashing Ted Thompson and that is what he couldnt get past..Or at least according to Gary, that is why Mike McCarthy was saying Brett wasnt in the right mind set..

Still holding a grudge at TT

Whoever knows. I always kinda believed Mike McCarthy wanted him back more but this does raise some news issues but I think I'll respect both parties more if I just don't follow all the stories that start surfacing cause they really make no one look like the winner. I will say MM's more strict coaching seemed do be very good for Brett. As much as a gunslinger as he is he still thrives when coached

I was told that Brett could not get past the fact that, in Brett's opinion, Ted continually didn't keep his word and lied about events to the media. Therefore, Brett could not trust him. Remember Brett saying that some of the things Ted (and Mike) said during the whole thing were simply not true?

Personalize it. Could you continue to work for someone whom you felt continually lied to you and your coworkers and customers about you?

Ted should have said..

Brett thanks for your input we will look into it but cant promise anything

If one of those 2 things happens,. we arent here today I bet

but we end up with these things.

BF didnt like the guard situation and told this to TT.

but Ted Thompson didnt listen to him so he took it as a slap

But he let it slide like 90% of us would..

Then it happens a 2nd time? Again he said nothing to Ted Thompson I bet lot of us would have said something.

Then a 3rd time and still said nothing?

Then he is ticked off about his locker being shipped and said okay Ted GREAT

Well god damn, if all those things bothered him then he should have said something..at the start..

Brett is a grown man and should have said something and not let it stew in his gut

But AGAIN ( b4 anyone blasts me)

TED could have and SHOULD have said something as well...

Martha Careful (10-May) : 1. this is true of all our linemen. 2. His run block is fine. 3. If all OL played like he has, we would win SB.
beast (10-May) : Meyers pass blocking is really good, his run blocking is really not.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : Packers have claimed DE Spencer Waege off of waivers from the 49ers and waived DT Rodney Mathews.

beast (9-May) : Center is usually considered the easiest position physically if you can handle the snap stuff.
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : Bust it is then
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Context. Sounds like Myers won't be cross-trained. C or bust.

Zero2Cool (30-Apr) : could*
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : Safeties should learn from Xavier.
