Isn't this the second game in a row that Shields got a pick at the end of the game?

Some thoughts:

- Rodgers has improved. I was really critical of him last year for holding onto the ball too long, but my goodness his releases are excellent. I chalk that up to his pre-snap reads: he seems to be making excellent adjustments and then his releases are friggin' quick. I mean even in the slow motion replay on the Finley touchdown, it looked to me like he wouldn't get the ball off on time. Simply outstanding.

Zombo: I like him. He got extensive burn, and not only is he pretty stout considering being a rookie, but he is relentless - seems he has a motor that keeps going. I really liked him tonight, did some good stuff.

On his sack / strip of Manning, give credit to Justin Harrell who beat his man and helped collapse the pocket. Other than that though, he was on the ground more than you'd like but what was most concerning was that a couple of time I saw him get pushed back by 1 arm when the Colts O-linemen were on the move.

As for the O-linemen: I followed Breno a bit, and he is pretty good on the move, which is impressive for a man that size. Still had trouble with some speed rushers, seemingly setting his weight too inside / outside and getting beat in the other direction. On the other hand, I was impressed with Newhouse - got pushed back a bit too much at times, but he did a solid job in holding the point. Looks like a decent prospect at LT to keep, this year's Breno except actually having showed something in the pre-season.

I'm glad it is pre-season, because we cannot afford to have Nick Collins pointing out assignments to Burnett. It cost us tonight, much like last year with Harris and Martin last year against the Vikes. Glad it's preseason, because we can work on these things before the opener.

Think so, seems like he keeps putting that little sticky exclamation point at the end, saying KEEP ME!

Zombo really impressed me tonight! Might have a gem in finding him, he's all hustle!

I liked the pressure created by our defensive line.

Neal was solid. Raji caused some problems. Heck, even Pickett got in Manning's face on one play where Manning threw it out of bounds.

Solid effort.

Good points. I didn't see much out of Harrell either, although I could say the same for most of the other D-linemen. It's hard for D-linemen too look good in this scheme. I still think Harrell makes the roster.

The TD against Collins didn't bother me much, because that's the sort of thing that can be fixed in the preseason. Collins made a couple of nice plays later on.

Breno did look good on those running plays. I noticed the same thing with Barbre when he started last year. Too bad neither of them can pass block.

Disappointing that Bulaga missed the game. I wanted to get a better read on whether he will start at LG. Colledge did pretty well, though, I think. The offensive line was very impressive as a unit.

Zombo is a lot like Kampman. He doesn't look like much and doesn't look all that athletic, but he is all go. Non stop motor and a feel for the game that you just can't teach. I hope that he makes the team.

I like the 2 TDs on ST. That made me laugh.
I want to go out like my Grandpa did. Peacefully in his sleep.
Not screaming in terror like his passengers.

He was wearing a "tube top". That's why you can't see it. LOL!

Anyway.......it was a fun game to watch. The way it started, i thought "horse head" was gonna kill us. The guy IS a very good QB. I'd think we had him, and he'd find someone to throw to. The D seemed to get it's legs, and finally started to make some plays.
If our O can keep going like it is now, we have a real shot at a big year.
And it was good to FINALLY see the special teams make some plays. Hopefully all the good stuff will carry over into the regular season.
Plus you have to consider we had several starters that were held out. No Gregorious, and several on defense.
I'm trying not to get overly excited, but it sure is looking good!

I was really happy with the OL - looked a lot better than last year. Rodgers was solid as always. Receivers also looked great. Basically aside from a couple ball control issues I saw nothing short of great on the offense. Starters were solid.

On the defense - as others would agree I see some concern in pass coverage. I have seen much worse secondary but I just don't have the confidence I would like to. The rest of the D looked good. I only saw a couple of disappointing plays outside of secondary.

Overall I have a good feeling about this team. Again, if they can work out the kinks in the secondary - I would have no question about the NFC North outcome.

I agree on the overall idea here of the D. I'm hoping a lot has to do with us sitting some players and the fact we're keeping it fairly vanilla but I remain unimpressed. There's gonna be a few games where our defense will have to bail out the offense and I can only hope everyone will step it up.

Other than that, we're looking very good and I hope we carry it over into the regular season. We'll face many more different looks and it's up to the O-line to be well versed and practiced on the schemes they'll face in order to keep it up.

Zero2Cool (9-May) : Packers have claimed DE Spencer Waege off of waivers from the 49ers and waived DT Rodney Mathews.

Martha Careful (9-May) : I am not sure I understand the Myers hate. He was consistently our third best lineman. RG and LT were worse.
