The schedule for the 2011 season should be out soon.

I started to think about the consequences of a shortened season and came to the below idea.

The league should have 2 schedules worked out.

The first being the regular season they were going to go with over 17 weeks with a bye week for each team.

The second should be based on having a shortened season due to the ongoing CBA dispute.

I think they should schedule like this.

weeks 1 - 4 All Games should be interconference
weeks 5 - 10 All games should be conference games with weeks 7 - 10 inter divisonal games.
weeks 11 league wide bye week
weeks 12 - 17 Divisonal games

This way no team would get an unfair advantage with the tie break rules 1.e. better divisonal, conference record to decide tie breaks if the regular season schedule was used, as a team may miss out on 3 divisional games if the first say 5 weeks are missed.

I haven't looked into what was done in previous strike shortened years but I believe this is the fairest way to go.

They had extra playoff spots i believe last time they had a strike.
Plus the possibility of using "scab" players.
Who knows what will actually end up happening.

I don't believe the use of "scab" players is an option here, since the players have not technically gone on strike. Indeed, it isn't really possible for them to strike, since the union supposedly doesn't exist anymore. 😉

True.....but they arn't showing up for work, so the owners can "fire" them and hire scabs.
If they want to go that route.

Except that technically, it was the owners themselves who locked the employees out.

It is an interesting subtlety and I am not sure how it plays out.

True!
VERY true! I heard that they are gonna try to get an NFL team in Detroit this year. If they can get the rest of the league to hire scabs, and they play their REAL players, they might get to .500!

Great!!!
Pats v. Bucs in '09,
Broncos v. Niners in '10,
and now Bears v. Bucs in '11...

We really give London a lot of reasons to love the NFL...

dfosterf (29-May) : Andy Herman and his Pack a day podcast put up GB strengths yesterday. This morning he did weaknesses. They are both very good.

Zero2Cool (13-May) : I know we moved on. That tidbit just makes me a touch happier.
Zero2Cool (13-May) : Sources spoke of many, many times last summer where Hackett called a play, then Rodgers changed it completely at the line
Martha Careful (10-May) : 1. this is true of all our linemen. 2. His run block is fine. 3. If all OL played like he has, we would win SB.
beast (10-May) : Meyers pass blocking is really good, his run blocking is really not.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : Packers have claimed DE Spencer Waege off of waivers from the 49ers and waived DT Rodney Mathews.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : And the OL protections seem to be good.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : I really don't know lol. I don't see him getting blown up.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : -3 buwahhhahaaha
Mucky Tundra (9-May) : 4th
Zero2Cool (9-May) : because he's 1st
Mucky Tundra (9-May) : Myers isn't even the 3rd best C on the roster atm
Martha Careful (9-May) : I am not sure I understand the Myers hate. He was consistently our third best lineman. RG and LT were worse.
beast (9-May) : Just saying I don't think moving Myers would help Myers.
beast (9-May) : Center is usually considered the easiest position physically if you can handle the snap stuff.
