First, I think it's unrealistic to expect players to play for our team at a reduced rate. Second, and more importantly, apparently that wasn't an option because the Packers didn't make Jenkins an offer AT ALL. He is no longer a part of their plan. They're banking on Neal to take his place.

I like it that since you couldn't find anything bad that Jenkins said, you just made up something silly. Also, the feelings that you attribute to "uneducated Packer fans" are not something I've seen much of, if at all. Most fans seem to accept the fact that Jenkins is going to command a higher salary than what the Packers want to pay him, considering his injury issues. This whole thing is just a non-issue, as far as I'm concerned.

You're right Greg. Nobody is allowed to intepret something from what somebody said. We all need to have direct quotes and take everything word for word, and it can only have one meaning. Nobody ever has an alterior motive for saying something. ::roll:

Jenkins needed to keep his mouth shut about his contract, like Driver has and Al Harris always did. When Jenkins went to the press with it, to me, he's no better than Javon Walker. Is that clear enough for you now? You and Mass can disagree with me and it is perfectly fine, but my opinion is not too harsh for these well paid players.

Please help refresh my memory. Is the draft choice we're awarded for our free agent leaving partially determined by the amount of their contract with the new team?

If so I hope Cullen gets a boat load of money if he leaves.
Why is Jerry Kramer not in the Hall of Fame?

The number of picks a team receives equals the net loss of compensatory free agents up to a maximum of four. The 32 compensatory choices announced today will supplement the 221 choices in the seven rounds of the 2011 NFL Draft (April 28-30), which will kick off in primetime for the second consecutive year.

Compensatory free agents are determined by a formula based on salary, playing time and postseason honors. The formula was developed by the NFL Management Council. Not every free agent lost or signed by a club is covered by this formula.

Three clubs this year (Oakland, Seattle and New Orleans) will each receive a compensatory pick even though they did not suffer a net loss of compensatory free agents last year. Under the formula, the compensatory free agents lost by these clubs were ranked higher than the ones they signed (by a specified point differential based upon salary and performance).

Twenty one compensatory picks were awarded to clubs based upon the compensatory pick formula. By rule, 11 additional choices were awarded at the end of the seventh round to bring the total number of compensatory selections to 32, equaling the number of NFL clubs. The 11 additional picks were awarded to Carolina, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Denver, Cleveland, Arizona, San Francisco, Tennessee, Dallas, Washington and Houston based upon the 2011 draft selection order.

Almost the same story last year.

So whether or not GB receives a supp pick will be based upon the new CBA.

The number of picks a team receives equals the net loss of compensatory free agents up to a maximum of four. The 32 compensatory choices announced Monday will supplement the 223 choices in the seven rounds of the 2010 NFL Draft (April 22-24). This year, the compensatory picks will be positioned within the third through seventh rounds, based on the value of the compensatory free agents lost.

Compensatory free agents are determined by a formula based on salary, playing time and postseason honors. Not every free agent lost or signed by a team is covered by this formula, which the NFL Management Council developed.

This year, three teams -- the Oakland Raiders, Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers -- each will receive a compensatory pick even though they didn't suffer a net loss of compensatory free agents last year. Under the formula, the compensatory free agents lost by these teams were ranked higher than the ones they signed (by a specified point differential based upon salary and performance).

Thirty compensatory picks were awarded to teams, based upon the compensatory pick formula. By rule, two additional choices were awarded at the end of the seventh round to bring the total number of compensatory selections to 32, equaling the number of NFL teams. The two additional picks were awarded to the St. Louis Rams and Detroit Lions, based upon the 2010 draft selection order.

There are a lot of other potential FA on the team. But head to head if Kampman was worth a 4th, Jenkins won't be more than a 5th.

Kampman

2 Pro Bowl selection (2006, 2007)
2 Second-team All-Pro selection (2006, 2007)
2007-2008 Red Smith Sports Award

Sacks 54.0
INTs 0

Jenkins
