Though he seemed in many ways like a perfect fit for Pittsburgh, the Steelers passed on running back Eddie Lacy, opting instead to pick Le'Veon Bell in the second round of the 2013 draft. So why didn't they want Lacy? According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Steelers were scared off not by

I'd MUCH rather have Lacey than Bell. I don't see why there is so much negativity and "bust" talk about him in here. Before the draft, I was hoping the Packers would get Montee Ball, but I'm very satisfied with the Lacey pick, and if I can force myself to be unbiased, probably he has an even better chance for stardom than Ball. I like Franklin also as a situational back along with Harris, but Lacey will be the big dog - the every down back - the one getting the bulk of the carries. Is there any news out there on his ability to pass block? Anyway, that can be learned - assuming he has the proper attitude.

Look at the tape. Nuff said. He's the best Running back in this draft. He was worth the risk of these so called injure talks. And we got Jonathon Franklin, also one of the best RB's in the draft to share the load.

On topic, I am the Steelers were frightened. I hope they are frightened every time we line up against them for a long long time.

Teams wary of Peterson's health after re-injury

The article alludes to but doesn't mention the high ankle sprain and shoulder injury (which he played through) that he had before his junior year. I admit though it's a little unfair to compare Lacy to Peterson since AP is a bit of a freak of nature. Hopefully Lacy can stay healthy and help the team.

Keeping Eddie LACY for 10 years would be worse than keeping Justin Harrell for the years he was kept. Hopefully the Packers don't cling to a poor pick for a decade. That'd be awful.
