I like Wilson but I think there are other young D linemen they should keep. It could even be better for him if he could hookup with a 4-3 team. Speaking of that could we pick up something in a trade?

Wilson is normally on the bench when the Packers go to their 2-4 nickel defense (which is basically the normal 4-2 nickel defense with the two 4-3 DEs (Matthews and Perry/Walden) standing up instead of their hand in the dirt).

Imo the D-Line is Raji, Pickett, Jones, Daniels, Neal, Wilson, Jolly

Are the Packers willing to keep Boyd on the 53? That remains to be seen. I think it's possible we keep 8 if every one of those guys proves to be serviceable to come in and play for a game in the regular season.

Wilson does to me, seem like the odd man out to most on this forum. Imo he is better than Jolly, i'd keep both if I were them over Boyd. Boyd would be tough to put on the PS. It just depends how many Corners/Safteys/Linebackers we keep. It would probably mean we have to get rid of an extra spot for the LBs or Safteys. And LBs are more important in this defense.

I think Mike Vandermause made some errors in this article.

When was Newhouse cut? ... he looked HORRIBLE in his rookie training camp but if memory serves me correctly he also improved a lot and the Packers kept him on the 53 man roster his whole career.

Also Brohm wa cut as a rookie? Packers cut a 2nd round rookie? I'm having trouble beileving that, I tried to look it up and looks like they cut him his second year, not as a rookie.

Also again I missed the Cards pre season game, but Barrington was on some of the starting ST units at Family night. That was a huge surprise because normally they don't put guys on the starting ST units until it looks like they have a very good shot at making the roster. And he looked very good at family night, so I was thinking he had a pretty good chance of making the final roster.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Brohm

Brohm was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the second round (56th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft. As a rookie, he was the third quarterback on the depth chart behind starter Aaron Rodgers and backup Matt Flynn. He was waived on September 5, 2009. Just days later, Brohm was signed to the practice squad.

If Worthy was healthy and ready to go then I would definitely think Wilson would be the guy to go at that point, but right now he still proves his value on base downs from what I have seen.

Would you have him at DT or DLE in a 4-3? Just wondering.

If DLE, it might be kind of like what we're doing with Neal now [grin1]

Obviously you missed the thread.

READ IT!!!!

http://www.jsonline.com/sports/packers/jarrett-bush-known-for-his-grueling-workouts-b9975723z1-219709871.html

Hate repeating myself, as I said to Zero, there used to be 4 or 5 guys who would join JB, now it seems only Jonathan Franklin has joined him.

Wonder if there would be fewer injuries and how much better these young guys would be if they would take Bush's lead?

"Nine Lives" as you call him isn't lucky, there's a reason he is still a Packer after 7 years.

Wonder if you can figure it out.

I'm betting NO!!

You don't dump quality d-lineman to make room for a special teams player. Everyone just cringes when Bush hits the field on defense. Why, cause he absolutely sucks, probably because he lacks the intelligence to play DB at the NFL level.

By the way Special Teams is just as important as offense and defense, been plenty of games lost on bad Special teams play.

You don't dump your best special teams player to keep a d-lineman who would probably be inactive on gameday.
